Quote:April 25 (Reuters) - Heavy use of the world's most popular herbicide, Roundup, could be linked to a range of health problems and diseases, including Parkinson's, infertility and cancers, according to a new study.

The peer-reviewed report, published last week in the scientific journal Entropy, said evidence indicates that residues of "glyphosate," the chief ingredient in Roundup weed killer, which is sprayed over millions of acres of crops, has been found in food.

Those residues enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease, according to the report...
...
"Negative impact on the body is insidious and manifests slowly over time as inflammation damages cellular systems throughout the body," the study says.

We "have hit upon something very important that needs to be taken seriously and further investigated," Seneff said.

Environmentalists, consumer groups and plant scientists from several countries have warned that heavy use of glyphosate is causing problems for plants, people and animals.

Conveniently they signed the Monsanto Protection act recently.

It's so wrong to kill the weed mon!

Are they developing a "new" chemical agent designed to kill certain things without affecting the others? What's next?

We need robotic ants that kill weeds. How could that backfire?

Guys - please grow your weed instead of buying it.

Yes you might get some herbicide with your round-the-corner bought weed. Convenience increases risk.

However the article is published in Entropy. Well, what is "Entropy". It turns out that "Entropy" magazine is an open-source (read pay-to-publish) Swiss rag with an "impact factor" of 1.18.

Some of the "Nature" family of publications have an impact factor over 30. So Entropy is a real rag.

This article is the peer reviewed journal equivalent of gossip.

Well, feel absolutely free to have whatever Roundup Ready
breakfast you want...gossip or fact. (Stay safe, now..!)

Personally, I prefer the ecologically produced variant.
Close to home ain't bad either.

To grow one's own is - as always - the best advice there
is to give :)

30 is the new 45: Today's adults getting diseases 15 years faster than thier grandparents

Quote:Time for small organic farming practices
Small organic farming practices are the future. Practices like cutting out pesticides and eliminating hormones and steroids in meat production are essential to future vitality. Corporate genetically modified seed must be discarded as well, for it alters the DNA of humans. The human body desires food that is unmodified, real, and raw. At this critical juncture, organic farming must rise up and be the future.

I buy beef from a neighbor, it's $3.50/lb cut and wrapped for all cuts from ground to porterhouse, it's not full of hormones and it supports local ranchers. The beef from the grocery store is awful and probably from Brazil lol.

In order to put your head in the sand, you must first be on your knees

I grew up on a farm. There is nothing you can get at a store that tastes as good as stuff from your farming neighbor. Time and transportation is really cruel to food (by the way, all chicken is partially or completely frozen in the freezer truck that delivers it to the store).

Since Round Up came out in 1974 and GMO's were introduced a couple decades ago, obesity and digestive orders have doubled.

Inflammation is the #1 cause of chronic illness and death in the US. So if Round Up causes inflammation, it is a definite health hazard.

Add high fructose corn syrup to that list ,aspartame and splenda and carageenan too .
HFCS is a major offender ,and causes massive inflammation that leads to atherosclerotic cardiac and peripheral disease, and fatty liver . Big time.
All these people who don't have hepatitis or alcohol issues, all coming down with fatty liver disease, most likely consume huge amts of HFCS .
The woman in NZ who died from drinking huge amts of coca cola ,had fatty liver disease .What no one mentions ,is,... NZ stopped using coke with sugar ,and switched to the brands from the USA made w HFCS .
They went on and on how bad all that sugar was ,and it wasn't sugar at all.

In the USA HFCS is in everything ,and to boot, its made from corn ,which is gmo .

Yup
