Yeah, I don't like their style much, even if they score nice goals
on their famous flying counterattacks.
(Guess Jagr is king on the powerplay still - gotta give them that.)

And they got the best goalie of the tournament, no doubt.

Good game anyway, by the Americans.
They had the right attitude going in to the game, but but...
you just have to convert your chances early against the
Czhechs.

Fekk.

OK, next underdog with my sympathies are the Germans against
the Sveedes later...

Mangled ain't the word fer it! 13.gif wtf2.gif Glad it's over, that was awful! Now we're having to listen to Du Gamla du Fria gaah.gif

This would have made a better bier drinking contest I'm certain, the Germans are used to real stuff, the Sveedes would have passed out or puked. rofl.gif

Damned good period by the Finns, the 2nd :)

How about those powerplay goals...just beautiful :)

No goalie in the world would have had a chance.

4 - 1, I think we'll be alright :)

Sleepy 3d period, Norway didn't put up much of a fight
anymore.

In a few hours we'll know whether we'll play Russia or
Canada in the semi...muahhah - whaddayaknow, this could
still turn out a Fin - Swe classic in the final :D

I am still a bit awestruck by Granlund/Immonen's powerplay goals blink.gif
Looked like something you spend hours perfecting in Nintendo or
Playstation hockey.

Fantastic finish from the Russians!

Kaigurodov's goal was the prettiest of the tournament so far.

Kinda typical that Kovalchuk scores the big one, he's been
criticized for ineffectiveness by the commentators every game
up til now.

So...Finns facing a rematch against Russia in the semi.
A much more motivated Russia than in the last encounter...

Yikes.

On the other hand - the road to the gold medals just opened
for the Finns. They can beat Russia, but not the Canadians hehheh.
It's all in their heads :)

RE: IIHF 2011 - another hockey thread
So...we're down to the last four.

Strange, how they're all still from the club of same-olds,
despite the 'lesser' teams doing so well in the beginning
stages of the tournament. All underdogs lost their quarter
finals...Can - Rus being the only really even match.

No matter how things turn out, I'm a bit impressed with
the Finnish team, and how the organization handles the
generational transition. Smoothly done.
A world class star is born in Mikael Granlund :)
What a bag of moves that kid has got! :)
And Little Koivu is a born leader!
This will be good to build around in future Olympics etc.

Dare I say that I smell gold *snif* *snif*
Methinx we'll go all the way if we beat the Russkies tonight.

:nailbite:

Sad though, that the tournament ends :(
No way to avoid politricks, nuclear disasters and war catching
one's attention again...yeah, back to reality and the usual sheit.

Seems like hockey is one of the best, smartest modes of inter-
national interaction.

*sigh*

Nu-uh, the Finns beat the Canadians two years ago. The Canadians won gold but the Finns were the only ones to beat them. hi5.gif
