GlaxoSmithKline admits to criminal pharma fraud in 3 billion dollar case

Quote:(NaturalNews) British registered company, GlaxoSmithKline, faces $3 billion in penalties after pleading guilty to the biggest health care fraud case in history. GSK admitted that physicians had been bribed to push potentially dangerous drugs in exchange for Madonna tickets, Hawaiian holidays, cash and lucrative speaking tours. They also admitted distributing misleading information regarding the antidepressant Paxil. The report claimed that it was suitable for children, but failed to acknowledge data from studies proving its ineffectiveness in children and adolescents.

GSK faced charges that they had used the gifts to sell three drugs that were either unsafe, or used for purposes that were not approved. The first drug, Paxil also known as Seroxat, was touted as safe and effective for children and adolescents. The ineffectiveness of Paxil, and the link to suicides, meant that it was banned for kids under 18-years-olds in 2008.

The second drug, Avandia was used in Britain to treat diabetes until it was withdrawn due to safety fears, including increased risk of heart attacks. The US government claimed that GSK had attempted to conceal the data surrounding the dangers.

The third drug, Wellbrutin is used in the UK for treating depression, but it was alleged that GSK had recommended physicians used it for ADHD, lost libido and as a slimming aid. None of which were approved uses for the drug.

That is true about the Wellbutrin (Even if the can't spell it correctly.) When I was diagnosed with ADHD I joined an ADHD forum to learn more. MANY of the patients are on amphetamines AND Wellbutrin.

If most knew the extent to which they lie about the safety of the products nobody would ever take them. I got wellbutrin (Zyban) to help me quit smoking in the States. It worked, the only side effect I didn't care about food, sex or anything.
All natural human instincts shut off. And I was irritable as a bear the whole time. gaah.gif Bad shït.

Did it work?

I remember a few drugs they have prescribed for smoking that had all sorts of vile side effects. They worked really well until the person quit taking them.

Was able to quit smoking. Stayed that way till I was going through divorce. Stressful times require carcinogenic substances you know.
I've got great willpower, stayed off of them for 4 years or so after that.

I bet GSK still made a substantial profit from those meds even after subtracting the fine.

Most drugs are never really tested. They are past on to unwitting patients as guinea pigs. Until, fines turn into criminal prosecutions, The big pharma culture of profit before patient care won't change.

'Dr. Drew' Was Paid by Glaxo

Quote:In June 1999, popular radio personality Dr. Drew Pinsky used the airwaves to extol the virtues of GlaxoSmithKline PLC's antidepressant Wellbutrin, telling listeners he prescribes it and other medications to depressed patients because it "may enhance or at least not suppress sexual arousal" as much as other antidepressants do.

But one thing listeners didn't know was that, two months before the program aired, Dr. Pinsky—who gained fame as "Dr. Drew" during years co-hosting a popular radio sex-advice show, "Loveline,"—received the second of two payments from Glaxo totaling $275,000 for "services for Wellbutrin."

The payments, made by a communications firm working for Glaxo, are revealed in an attachment to a complaint the U.S. government filed in October 2011 in federal court in the District of Massachusetts. The documents were disclosed this week as the U.S. Justice Department announced a $3 billion criminal and civil settlement with Glaxo over illegal drug marketing and other matters.

One of the most famous doctors in America and he sold out years ago. That is exactly why I like Dr. Mercola so much. He tries to get you to use natural remedies for what ails ya.

I noticed this text on the site: "the obscure | UFO | paranormal | satire"

And something clicked when I saw your thread about BIG PHARMA and the Obscure UFO Text!

Think about this for one second!
Back when all the Alien Abduction stories started up! (From 1963 to 1967)
Alien Butt Probe stories to be specific!

These stories emerged at the same time Dr. Hiromi Shinya was doing R&D on the colonoscopic in Israel at the Beth Israel Medical Center. I believe Medical research teams went all over the world doing Illegal Human testing on the device!

The Alien Abductee always lived in a remote easy to get to place or was out away from people and the VICTIM always reported the same story!

ALIENS PUT A PROBE UP THEIR ASS!
I believe it was actually ILLEGAL MEDICAL RESEARCH on the colonoscopic!
Or it was GAYS Gassing people and DATE RAPING THEM! But I believe it was Medical Research companies doing Illegal research!

BIG Pharma has access to drugs to knock people out!
They Gas you and do experiments!
