At an auction on Thursday, the bidding for a Boston parking spot with space for two cars started out at $42,000 and ended 15 minutes later with a sale price of $560,000. The spaces are behind 298 Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay, one of the costliest neighborhoods in the city. The winning bidder, Lisa Blumenthal, lives next door in a multimillion-dollar single-family home that already has three parking spots. She wants the spaces for guests and workers. "It was a little more heated than I thought it would have been," she said of the bidding.

Emotions must have been running high between the bidders. My bankroll is bigger than your bankroll.
