hug.gif Hej Shadow! It's a periodic cycle like climate change. This planet is relatively unstable, I can't quite get my head around the fact this comes to a surprise to people.
According to DNA results, at one point the human breeding population was in the neighborhood of 1500 pairs.
That's indicative of some inhospitable conditions.

Well North and South America both appear to be resting upon one huge tectonic plate and so they must be relatively safe in comparison to a country or a continent thats split down the middle by or sitting right on top of one these gigantic fractures...

Unfortunately according to scientists and geologists the entire world will be in grave danger and just imagine how yellowstones inevitable super eruption could start violently detonating before i finish typing this paragraph and or before anyone else finishes reading it as more than half of the united states is rendered uninhabitable while millions of people suffocate and are buried and burned to death as the earth is plunged into prolonged volcanic winter like is reality awesome or what the f##k?!...

The more we find out about the unimaginably violent and destructive history of earths volcanic catastrophes the worse we realize how horrible they actually were and are and will be again...

Quote:The Siberian Traps were formed by one of the largest known volcanic events of the last 500 million years of Earth's geological history. These continued for a million years and are considered the likely cause of the "Great Dying" about 250 million years ago, which is estimated to have killed 90% of species existing at the time.

It's not a matter of if, but when a cataclysmic event takes place and then, will we be able to survive or have we become too comfortable in our lifestyles? I think there's no knowing what the consequences will be if Yellowstone blows or a similar event takes place.

How many people know how to hunt and kill wild animals for their own food?! how many people know how to start fires outdoors for cooking?! how many people know how to make their own clothing?! how many people know how to survive outside in the heat and cold?! how many people know how to find natural clean drinking water?! how many people know the difference between edible and non edible plants?!

Like maybe 1 in a 100?! well just think about how around a hundred years ago or so just about everyone did know how to do most of those things and around a hundred and fifty years ago everyone did them all on a regular basis and a whole lot more than that but nowadays, thanx mostly to dehumanizing technology, its probably more like 1 in a 1,000 or even worse...

We have been flirting with disaster and when the it hits the fan again just imagine all the fun and joy the shell shocked survivors will have trying to live like psychotic road warriors killing each other off for food and water like wtf...

In a scenario like that I'm afraid other people would be the biggest threat if you manage to survive.

Self reliance is something you either have or you don't. If you prepare for some mad max apocalypse you're defeated before you begin. Because life ain't Hollywood.

Exactly because there will undoubtedly be scattered bands of deranged and animalistic shell shocked survivors roaming and rampaging all over the place like homicidal maniacs attacking and killing each other off for food and water and shelter and i'll bet anything that a post apocalyptic earth will be transformed into a horrible coalescence of these two awesome movies...

As Chile has just experienced a very large earthquake, I wonder if Yellowstone will experience another earthquake because of a connection to tectonic plate movement.
