Hans Ruedi "H.R." Giger was a Swiss surrealist painter, whose style was adapted for many forms of media, including record albums, furniture, tattoos and film. He was also one of my Mentors as a Mechanical Surrealist Artist. Hard to believe three years have passed since his Death. I created this Xenomorph Queen Bike shortly after his Death as a Tribute.

İmage

Not many People know that Bob Ross of Joy of Painting had a 9 month apprenticeship With Giger. He even painted nine works in the Giger style but they were lost in a fire in Prague in 2006.

H.R. Giger (RIP) deserve a tribute IMO. Gumby, your work is fabulous.

Interestingly, Giger wanted the adult female Alien (in Alien) to be xeno-erotic (and deadly via kisses) and the baby alien as bambi-like so we would find ways to like them more (or to identify with them via human and animal traits), which Fox really didn't use or take far enough and so Giger may have taken that badly. As an artist I would feel the same way. In the same way one writes a novel and the publisher edits it beyond recognition.

He inspired the design of the Aliens in the movie Alien.

hide Matsumoto, the guitarist of X Japan, bought a bunch of Gigers works, which he intended to put in a bar he was planning on opening in Tokyo.
Sadly, Matsumoto died before construction on the bar. (1997)
However, his family opened a museum in his honor, and some of them were displayed.
Particularly, in the bathrooms. They were these wild light sconces, and the toilets.
They were Gigers designs . I think the museum opened in 2000. I went about 4 times.
When the toilets flushed, the water from the bowl came in on both sides, and I swear it formed this kind of water spine.
It was amazing.

The museum closed years ago. I never heard what happened to any of the stuff from it.

That's the first thing I thought looking at his art
