Q. I see nothing in the autopsy report that said "the cause of death was heavy metal poisoning, specifically uranium and thorium". I do see this:

Twelve (12) of the twenty-one(21) metals detected above recommended high levels.

Elevated Selenium which can be explained easily by the sample donor taking supplements.

The same holds for Zinc and Manganese. The Cadmium elevation maybe due to cigarette use.

NOWHERE does it state the cause of death was heavy metal poisoning. And if this guy had cancer, how old was he?

A. I understand your doubt. I HOPED the autopsy would come out normal! After all, I encouraged him - no, introduced him - to this stuff. That is a burden I will bear for the rest of my life. He was my best friend as well as colleague here in Savannah.

Of course I am skeptical too, and contacted the GA dept of health out of due diligence; after all, SOMEHOW this stuff got in him! Maybe there's a public health hazard! A toxic dump or superfund site not disclosed. They responded that there are no such sources in Savannah and that the levels of cancer in Savannah are 'normal'. So no cancer cluster. No metals.

It should be pointed out that James would not take vitamins. I made juices for him daily as his health declined. Chemo destroys your appetite and ability to hold food down. For the last 2 months I had gotten him numerous supplements. When I cleaned out his place after he died, I found them all, unopened. Mark McCandlish and I are both big proponents of alternative medicine, but James was a hard-headed guy and thought it was not going to help, and perhaps hurt his progress.

Although he had high levels of cadmium in his body, a doctor told me that his level was far higher than in smokers.

I have been able to eliminate Platinum from the list as platinum is used in chemotherapy.

Also, to be fair I should point out that these are BLOOD LEVELS, not tissue levels. In speaking with a forensic pathologist with a university, there are two issues with this kind of measurement:
1. This means that those elements were in his blood. Most heavy metals migrate to the organs.
2. It is the accumulation of heavy metals in organs that is used in legal cases as forensic evidence.

What we CAN conclude is that either:
1. James had been poisoned very recently, AFTER he had cancer, or
2. The amount of heavy metals was so high that the organs had not yet absorbed all the metals, or reached saturation levels.

Additionally, bile duct cancer is very rare. There is only one direct causative agent for his primary cancer, which was bile duct cancer: Thorium, which was in his blood ten times over the max acceptable limit.

More of that conversation going on.

Q. what is the composition of the material used?

A. Mercury-Thorium mix is what they surmise, but that's only speculation based on previous research of the Nazi Bell. Mercury for sure.
