No, into DNA sharing, it appears.

Quote:Consider the “tranimal[s]-forming agent” (Helmreich 2011) green fluorescent protein (GFP), a reporter gene first harvested and synthesized from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria in the 1960s (Shimomura 1995; Baille Gerritsen 2001). Following GFP, we find jellyfish proteins drifting through the bodies of other species. A GFP bestiary works to carry transgenic bioluminescence: GFP-expressing rhesus monkey ANDi has siblings who glow in stillborn death while ANDi's date of death remains unknown (Trivedi 2001). Eduardo Kac's GFP Bunny, Alba, frames the laboratory rabbit as both conceptual art and domestic companion (Kac 2005). Developed in Taiwan for commercial purposes, multicolored GFP fish are sterile and decorative (Whitehouse 2003; Taikong Group). GFP expression in domestic kittens marks a protein that resists feline immunodeficiency virus: glowing paws point to clinical intervention into human-cat disease (Wongsrikeao et al. 2011). Transgenic pig flesh follows stem cells like breadcrumbs (Hsiao et al. 2011). Countless other organisms labor to express GFP for biomedical science, including bacteria, microbes, and flies.

At 1:14 into video...an electrical pulse creates a path through cell walls for the transplantation of DNA wherever, in the case of these fish, into the reproductive organs.

It's all been done before by Mother Nature, perhaps not as the scientists are doing, but it seems trans-animal or mutative DNA may be floating around and rises up from time to time.

On a completely unrelated note, I have a red silicone ice tray and when I press ice cubes out of it half way it looks like hippo teeth. I think it's funny as hell

Quote:More patients transitioning from female to male reported a history of suicide attempts and self-injury than those transitioning from male to female.

The study is published in Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, the journal of the American Association of Suicidology.

The researchers analyzed data from the medical records of 96 transgender patients, ages 12 to 22, with gender dysphoria visiting the Transgender Health Clinic at Cincinnati Children's. The clinic has served nearly 500 patients since it opened in 2013.

Fifty-eight percent had at least one additional psychiatric diagnosis in addition to gender dysphoria. Nearly 63 percent indicated a history of bullying, 23.1 percent a history of school suspension or expulsion, 19.3 percent involvement in physical fights and 17.1 percent repeating a grade in school.

The Cincinnati Children's researchers hope that additional studies will shed more light on the relations among weight concerns, eating disorders, self-injury and suicidal behaviors.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20...110833.htm

High rates of suicide among these young people and children is alarming. The medical community has a lot of catching up to do (and so does society) as this has always been going on in the closet (or coming out in other (destructive?) ways) and so now that more people are trying to transition there is very little help or understanding it appears. So if a positive self-image is gained by imaging oneself as having some hippo's attributes, then who does it hurt, really?

Dysphoria is a profound state of dissatisfaction and the opposite of euphoria. Unless they are treated with therapy, bad results are inevitable in some due to the nature of the condition. Even therapy is no guarantee.

Right, so if they make themselves feel better about themselves any which way they can, then they are being pro-active in some type of self-help.

If you look at animal sexual behaviour it seems bisexuality is the norm not the exception. (But it's a sin so let's not accept it)

Quote:The presence of same-sex sexual behavior was not "officially" observed on a large scale until recent times, possibly due to observer bias caused by social attitudes to same-sex sexual behavior,[25] innocent confusion, or even from a fear of "being ridiculed by their colleagues".[26] Georgetown University biologist Janet Mann states "Scientists who study the topic are often accused of trying to forward an agenda, and their work can come under greater scrutiny than that of their colleagues who study other topics."[27] They also noted "Not every sexual act has a reproductive function ... that's true of humans and non-humans."[27] It appears to be widespread amongst social birds and mammals, particularly the sea mammals and the primates. The true extent of homosexuality in animals is not known. While studies have demonstrated homosexual behavior in a number of species, Petter Bøckman, the scientific advisor of the exhibition Against Nature? in 2007, speculated that the true extent of the phenomenon may be much larger than was then recognized:

No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphis. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue.[26]

Two male giraffes in Kenya.

An example of overlooking homosexual behavior is noted by Bagemihl describing mating giraffes where nine out of ten pairings occur between males.

Every male that sniffed a female was reported as sex, while awful intercourse with orgasm between males was only "revolving around" dominance, competition or greetings.[28]

Some researchers believe this behavior to have its origin in male social organization and social dominance, similar to the dominance traits shown in prison sexuality. Others, particularly Bagemihl, Joan Roughgarden, Thierry Lodé[29] and Paul Vasey suggest the social function of sex (both homosexual and heterosexual) is not necessarily connected to dominance, but serves to strengthen alliances and social ties within a flock. Others have argued that social organization theory is inadequate because it cannot account for some homosexual behaviors, for example, penguin species where male individuals mate for life and refuse to pair with females when given the chance.[30][31] While reports on many such mating scenarios are still only anecdotal, a growing body of scientific work confirms that permanent homosexuality occurs not only in species with permanent pair bonds,[20] but also in non-monogamous species like sheep.

One report on sheep cited below states:

Approximately 8% of rams exhibit sexual preferences [that is, even when given a choice] for male partners (male-oriented rams) in contrast to most rams, which prefer female partners (female-oriented rams). We identified a cell group within the medial preoptic area/anterior hypothalamus of age-matched adult sheep that was significantly larger in adult rams than in ewes...[32]

In fact, apparent homosexual individuals are known from all of the traditional domestic species, from sheep, cattle and horses to cats, dogs and budgerigars.
(Wikipedia)

I was surprised when my cat rescurer sister told me that the male I had neutered would be raped by other non-neutered male cats...whether this is a territorial/dominance thing, it still is sex between the same gender.
