A United States military drone presumed to be a QF-4 crashed, exploded and sent up a large black cloud of smoke Wednesday morning at Tyndall Air Force Base.

Local news outlets from the Florida panhandle region reported Wednesday morning that an unmanned aerial vehicle crashed on the drone runway at Tyndall AFB during take-off at 8:20 a.m. EST that morning.

According to a local radio news story, Hwy. 98 will be closed for 24 hours. The reason is there is a bomb on the drone that is activated by a battery. The battery will die out in 24 hours from the time it crashed.

The AFB is on the other side east of Panama City. Panama City Beach is on the other side separated by a bay.

PCB is a beach town. It's not a dump, just an average beach town. Down the road about 30-40 miles is Destin which is an upscale beach town for those who have the money.

I can pretty much guarantee I've been there more than you have. Maybe you got dumped there and you're confusing the two concepts.

It is not a dump, nor is it spectacular, although the sugar beaches are nice and sometimes the water is emerald clear. The beach does get a cycle where the water is full of seaweed...lousy with it. But otherwise, it is rather nice.

Of course, the entire Gulf is polluted now due to the BP disaster and the follow up Corexit poisoning, so I don't go in the water anywhere in the Gulf anymore. It looks pretty, however.
