"We the People," the White House's online petition website that claims it is "giving all Americans a way to engage their government on the issues that matter to them," is currently hosting a petition for Alaska to leave the United States and join Russia.

Not going to happen. We own that Bitch.

Purchase of Alaska
March 30, 1867
How much do you think a state is worth? On March 30, 1867, Secretary of State William H. Seward agreed to purchase Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million. Do you think this was too much to pay for a piece of land that was mostly unexplored? At the time, critics thought Seward was crazy and called the deal "Seward's folly." Seward was laughed at for his willingness to spend so much on "Seward's icebox" and Andrew Johnson's "polar bear garden."

Revolution isn't the same as secession. What the founders did was treasonous and would've all been executed if they failed.

All of us here in North America said a collective ğck you king George and now we have maple syrup and NASCAR to sbow for it chuckle.gif

Hey it could be worse. Alaska could be populated by Finns. scream.gif

Quote:The plan was presented to Former President Herbert Hoover, who chaired the Finnish Relief Fund.

"New Finland" would have been established in Central Alaska around the Tanana River, a tributary of the Yukon. US authorities considered conditions in the Alaskan wilderness to be suitable for the Finns. Central Alaska is at roughly the same latitude as central Finland.
