The only reason Finland exist as independent State after the ww2 is that must be neutral buffer zone btwn the west and east. So far Finland has been doing very well "sucking milk" from two cows - doing business with russians and west. Join NATO will bring only trouble to Finland imo.

Finland's War of Choice? 13.gif A rock and a hard place doesn't even begin to describe it. The allied forces were denied access through "neutral" Sweden so the only backup against a common enemy would be Germany. Hell, the Americans even planned on moving the Finns to Alaska chuckle.gif

Quote:They fought alongside them, healed them, and often befriended them. But how do Finland's Jews feel today about their uneasy - and little mentioned - alliance with the Nazis?

Nevertheless, after the war, as the horrors of the Holocaust revealed themselves, a discomfort about their special treatment spread, both among the Finnish Jews themselves and the wider Jewish community. At a meeting of war veterans in Tel Aviv in 1946, the Finns were almost thrown out as traitors. Had it not occurred to them, they were asked, that, by helping Hitler, they had prolonged his time in power and thus ensured more Jews went to the gas chambers than would otherwise have been the case?

That discomfort is still detectable today. When I repeat the line about Finland “helping Germany”, I feel the temperature in the room drop.

“We did not help the Germans,” snaps Kent Nadbornik, the chairman of the Finnish Jewish Veterans Guild. “We had a common enemy which was the Russians and that was it.”

Semantics aside, the veterans’ other principal justification – that it proved their loyalty to the Finnish state – has also been under attack in recent years. The “party line” is that the existence of Jews in the army not only put paid to the country’s anti-Semitism; it also protected the entire Jewish population of Finland from the Holocaust.

Well, to prove my proposition we have to go back in time of finnish history.
After the swedish-russian war Finland become an autonomy land of Russia with it's own currency. The russian tzar (I don't recall his name right now) sign the proclamation in one church in Porvoo/Borgå 40km east of Helsinki/Helsingfors. I've been in that church many times - it is full of masonic symbols. The deal was (and still IS) that Finland will be buffer zone btwn Russia and Sweden (arch enemies @ that time) and will never be war btwn Sweden and Russia anymore. (I think that some time ago - year or so - there has been a fire in that church)
Finland IS masonic country in it's root. The symbols are everywhere, but is enough to take a look @ the huge painting in the restaurant @ the central railroad station in Helsinki, the painter of which was a high mason (and astrologer) - go and get his name, I don't recall it.

About ww2. Stalin was furious about the finnish betrayal of the contract. Let's not forget - the name "Lenin" don't sound dirty in Finland. And thanks to the general Mannerheim (do I write it correct?) who's interference safe Finland from blood thirsty Stalin. And thanks to this contract (and Stalin again) after the war Finland was not treated as enemy country and pay war contribution only to ussr.

As I see the reality Finland depends a lot on russian market and trade. Yet Finland is self-depend country it rely on gas and petrol (Neste) from Russia. Can someone cite how many russian tourists yearly have Finland and how much Finland profit from them. Beside how many join ventures are btwn Fin/Ru. It's huge business. And (paska mariat) I don't believe finns are doing to lose it over night imo.

First welcome to the KB, was rude of me to not say that earlier beercheer.gif

Yes Russia took the province of Karelia for compensation, and you're right, I believe Finland is the EU country most dependent on Russian energy. For tourism you could ask Octo, she'd know.

No doubt are there some deep Masonic roots in this country, that's visible in many places.

It's quite obvious the west wanted Finland as a buffer against Russia, for instance the CIA funding the Finnish Socialist part in the 1950s while Russia funded the communist party.

In reality Finland was tied by the Fenno-Soviet treaty of 1948 up till 1992. It's only logical that Finland's main trade partner would be Russia considering the location. And the eastern parts of the country are relying heavily on tourism from Russia,

Quote:Russian tourists are estimated to spend about EUR 200,000 million in Finland during the first two weeks of 2014.
http://www.investinfinland.fi/articles/n...ra/51-1083

Quote:The tourist board’s figures show that although Russians only stay for an average of 1.4 nights, they spend more per day than almost any other tourist nationality, and account for about a third of all the money spent by Finland’s foreign visitors.
http://finland.fi/Public/default.aspx?co...ture=en-US

Quote:Foreign overnights in 2013 by country, according to Accommodation Statistics:

Russia 1.6 million

Sweden 531 000

Germany 502 000

United Kingdom 456 000

France 214 000

Japan 206 000

USA 187,000
http://www.visitfinland.com/travel-trade...tatistics/

Quote:Russia is one of Finland’s most important business partners and Finnish companies take Russia’s economic crises in their stride. In the 2000s foreign trade between Finland and Russia grew by around 25 per cent a year prior to the economic crisis in 2009. For many SMEs, especially in eastern Finland, Russia is the first and only country in which to establish international operations. Finland also has a strong position in total Russian imports because nearly 30 per cent of Russia’s total imports transit through Finland. In relation to the population, Finnish direct investment in Russia is among the highest in Europe. The presence of the Finns can also be felt in Russia: in St Petersburg and its surroundings Finns account for around one-fifth of the foreign-owned companies in the area.

Like I said, the majority of Finns oppose joining NATO and I truly hope that will not change.

Tell me if i'm wrong,so basically Russian and Swedish kings and queens created a country called Finland for no other reason other than as a buffer zone,a defensive wall,a human (the people trapped in the middle during conflict) shield,an area and a space to buy time for and during war?!

They didn't create Finland. The Finns have been here for a long time and is being referred to as the land of the Fenni (Finn-land) in medieval texts and stories. Groups of Finns had their own little wars with Russia and also according to old sagas went into Norway and caused some trouble. But being squeezed in between two superpowers (as Sweden also was) is understandably not easy, but I think it turned out ok. It could be a helluva lot worse as we probably would be Siberians now if Stalin had been successful.
