Actually, that's a bit outdated information Ma'am.

The provinces were abolished altogether effective 1 January 2010. State administration has two local hierarchies, ely-keskus and aluehallintovirasto. Six Regional State Administrative Agencies (aluehallintovirasto, regionförvaltningsverk, abbr. avi) – in addition to the Government of Åland – are primarily responsible for law enforcement: Southern Finland, Eastern Finland, South-Western Finland, Western and Central Finland, Northern Finland, Lapland. Among these, South-Western Finland and Western and Central Finland cover the former province of Western Finland, and the former province of Oulu was revamped as Northern Finland; other old provincial boundaries remain much the same in the new disposition.

At least they are logically named provinces so anyone can fairly easily point them out on a map. chuckle.gif

Thank you knowledgeable Octo for clarifying that fact. I did think it was too easy when I first looked at the map of Finland. 13.gif

All homework is to be put forward by the class only and even then it is not mandatory, unless it is a great deal of fun. beercheer.gif

Les Américains ignorent qui est Stephen Harper, mais savent qu’ici on boit de la Molson et de la Labatt

translation:

The Americans do not know who is Stephen Harper, but know that here we drink of the Molson and Labatt

There you have it, the Americans actually have their Canadian knowledge-based facts of importance correct. chuckle.gif
