An update for Softy

My wife just called with good news. She called her insurance guy at work and he confirmed that we are insured as of January 1. The other good news is that Blue Cross has waved our $.36 monthly payment (I assume because it would cost them much more to send us a bill than the $.36). She assures me that the plan is 80/20 (after we pay $5000)but I told her to call him back and confirm.

Last I heard only 14,000 people had gotten insurance in Texas through the exchange. We have 5,000,000 uninsured here. There's going to be a lot of people in trouble because they were talked out of the exchange by fear mongers.

Update TWO: While I was writing this the post, the postman came. I got a bill for $.03 from Blue Cross in the mail. So much for the insurance guy getting it right.

80/20 is silver plan under obamacare,,,

it is not free,,,ever,,,

deductible is not 5000 dollars on silver plan,,,

not sure why employer is involved in your obamacare,,,

low sign up for obamacare is not from fear mongers,,,

sure that will be part of the lie spin...

I read there's a 60% shopping cart abandon rate after they get the final numbers. I don't believe there are tea party trolls involved at that juncture. chuckle.gif

On the upside, I'm glad this is working for you Wayne. Hope you have 5k budgeted for a deductible this year. It's all good till you have to use it.

I just emailed a pdf of my bill to octo and Jay. They will report what they see.

I'm not sure what documentation would be enough.

Softy, your acting as though I am deliberately trying to fool you. What difference does it make if its 80/20 or 70/30 its still real insurance with a real company.

We "abondoned" twice because we were not sure about the numbers until we could see them at the end of the process! Its very common to do this on internet purchases.

And YES the low sign up for obamacare is because of fear here in Texas. I talk to people I correct them. I tell them to try. They win. I get good Karma.

Just read the pdf.

I am not acting,,,I know it is not true,,,

what difference does it make???,,,

what is that a quote from Hillary about Benghazi???,,,

the difference is it does not exist,,,what you are saying,,,

You said it is obamacare,,,60/40 is bronze,,,what obama is getting,,,

70/30 is silver,,,80/20 is gold,,,90/10 is platinum...

and deductibles are much less with gold and platinum,,,

like 1000 and zero,,,

but hey look it up...you have 80/20 plan,,,for free???,,,

5000 deductible,,,you goofed up,,,try again...

I have guns, I have a copy of the constitution, I love freedom. They are not signing up because they don't like Obama, not because the web site doesn't work or you can't get affordable insurance. Texans are notorious bigots! I know I am one!

Texas Health Insurance Exchange Facts

Some of the latest facts on the Health Insurance Exchange in Texas.

Texas will allow HHS to step in and setup and run their Insurance Exchanges.

Texas has not implemented all of the ObamaCare provisions necessary to insure the maximum amount of Texans.
Choosing the Right Health Insurance Plan

There are a number of different tiers of plans available on the Texas Health Insurance Exchange. Plans range from bare bones "bronze" plans which cover 60% of out of pocket medical costs to "platinum" plans which have greater coverage but come with higher premiums. In general higher premiums mean lower out-of-pocket costs and a wider insurer network of doctors and hospitals. The plans are as listed below:

NOTE: All cost sharing is of out of pocket costs. Please see ObamaCare health benefits for services that are covered at no out of pocket charge on all plans.

Bronze Plan: The bronze plan is the lowest cost plan available. It has the lowest premiums and in exchange has the lowest actuarial value. The actuarial value of a bronze plan is 60%. This means that 60% of medical costs are paid for by the insurance company, leaving the other 40% to be paid by you.

Silver Plan: The Silver plan is the second lowest cost plan, it has an actuarial value of 70%. This means that 70% of medical costs are paid for by the insurance company, leaving the other 30% to be paid by you. The Silver plan is the standard choice for most reasonably healthy families who historically use medical services.

Gold Plan: The Gold plan is the second most expensive plan, it has an actuarial value of 80%. This means that 80% of medical costs are paid for by the insurance company, leaving the other 20% to be paid by you.

Platinum Plan: The Platinum plan is the plan with the highest premiums offered on the Texas insurance exchange. The Platinum plan as an actuarial value of 90%. This means that 90% of medical costs are paid for by the insurance company, leaving the other 10% to be paid by you. This plan is suggested to those with high incomes and those in poor health. Although coverage is more expensive up front the 90% coverage of costs will help those who use medical services frequently.
