Called one place. To do one knee they wanted $170!! Probably would be two x-rays.

I fell down two weeks ago. Thud on my knee (and forearm on a commercial fabric seat of a chair that gave me a 4-inch 'carpet' burn but broke the fall. My knee burns all the time since the fall. Bending it makes it burn really bad when wearing pants over it. There's definitely fluid there according to my doc.

She is such a sweetheart, btw. Her name is Raquel Skidmore, M.D. She gives me a hug each time I come to see her. She does acupuncture, too.

I always try to manage my injuries myself, by massage and diet. But, if all else fails, you just gotta pay the piper.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I suggest you move to a country with universal health care, that's the best I can do to help.

Happy new year, I hope you get your knee sorted out hug.gif

A bottle of Dr. Christopher's remedy (minus the comfrey.) Bone, Flesh and Cartilage is due to arrive Friday. I"m been putting comfrey ointment on it which provides some temporary relief from the burning.

The thing is, if it's broken can it heal unless my knee is immobilized in a brace?

I live by myself. No one in my family levies closer that 8 hours away. Couldn't drive with a brace on it. So it could mean 6 weeks of fasting. omg.giffatman.gif

ICE
Ice, compression, elevation. I buggered my knee a couple weeks ago and this is all that helps. Wouldn't cost a thing (upfront) for me to see a doc but can't be bothered.

That's good advice, Shadow. It feels like there are little particles in my right knee, a little bit like grains of rice. It's the patella which is like a tiny shield in the front of the knee.

It's not uncommon for people my age and older to break that bone of they fall forward, according to a couple of Google searches, anyway.

So xrays confirm you broke it, what can they do? Actually, a vet (and it sounds bizarre but i'm not joking) is much cheaper and generally more professional than a g.p.

Shadow is absolutely right. If you know enough you know what your doc will say, only he/she will add a few prescriptions.

Ice definitely. Cool that bitch down. We even got an old saab going with a bag of frozen peas.

I don't know what I'll do if it's broken because not being able to drive for 6 weeks while the bones heals is out of the question.

I mean, how do I get my Haagen Daaz? chuckle.gif

According to photos on Google, there are all sorts of different types of breaks of the patella. Some they put pins in and others they simply order a brace.

My method would be to use Dr. Christopher's Bone, Flesh and Cartilage along with comfrey, but that probably wouldn't work either if it's not immobilized.

Jay is right. Just put me down like a horse.

PS. It might not be broken. Whether that would have any effect on Jay's recommendation remains to be seen. chuckle.gif
