Somehow I get the feeling if you all brought me to Mexico, it would be a one way trip. chuckle.gif

Probably my own stuff running. After one too many injuries, the safest place feels like home.

Lately the image of a ladder has been following me around as a metaphor for life. The ladder has a bunch of rungs which represent the years of our lives.

It feels like I've slipped down a couple of rungs.

When we were young, we didn't even think about our steps - we just went where we wanted to go. Now I don't think about where I want to go so much - but I do think about each step.

BTW, are you guys actually in Mexico now?

We have universal health insurance instead of universal health care. vic.gif

thats not good about hurting yourself bag.. you seem to have a lot of problem going on.. thats not good..

i had to chuckle at octo's reply, cause in most western countries it wouldnt even cross our mind about how much an x ray would cost or the cost of everything else to do with it, cause the govt pays for it, its free.. as it should be.. thats what we pay taxes for. who needs the extra worry of medical bills..

happy new year anyway.. hope you heal quickly.. your dr sounds lovely..

yes, they are in mexico i think, but they are keeping it hush hush..

Thanks, WR.

You know that free health care means that a $20 book costs you $40, right? hehe It all comes out in the wash.

A few Google searches tonight are persuading me from my symptoms it much more likely that I have an irritated tendon than a broken patella. My pain is a burning stinging pain rather than an ache. Broken bones ache, right?

The patellafermoral (sp?) tendon is a big honking tendon that covers the patella completely on the outside at least. So quite possibly, the '"stuff" I'm feeling is just a roughed up tendon.

This is a relief to me. I'll research it a little more in the morning. There's little sense getting an x-ray when the symptoms don't fit a break. It'll also save me a bit of cash and limit my exposure to radiation to Fukushima, which is more than enough.

things cost more here, but not as inflated as that.. and we earn a lot more.. minimum wage is something like $20 an hour.. so it all balances out at the end of the day..

i dont know why you dont just get it x-rayed asap, dont you have health insurance to cover that?

No insurance. Little money. I just got the order for the x-ray today, and most of the places closed early for New Year's Eve which is probably a good thing.

Just above in my previous reply, you'll see that it looks more and more like the tendon that covers the patella is roughed up and irritated. What I was feeling might be a scuffed up tendon. A broken bone would probably ache. This burns and stings especially when bent rather than aches.

Google can be something else. What a gold mine of information is out there at our fingertips!

lol no. almost everything is free. in fact everything but some dentist stuff is free.

but i'd guess that an x ray in a hospital would be cheaper than at your gp's practice.

In the US at least people are far safer staying away from hospitals. A couple times hospitals have gone on strike, once in California and another time in Israel. The death rates dropped significantly both times.
