Youtube recently started scaling their buffering like netflix does starting at low res and then moving up.

This last flash update seems to have made it worse.

Video will restart several times sometimes for me and then sometimes just gives error and often when it does this sound isn't kicking in. I am certain it is caused by this new crap the implemented.

ya but its not flash's fault it's youtube and the last update made whatever compatibility issue they were having where it switches quality on its own worse.

Good to know it's not just an IE 8 problem and others are having the same/similar issues. At least I got youtube to work with IE 8 again, however I'm having issues getting the width height parameters to function correctly with auto embed.
It looks like a playing card gaah.gif chuckle.gif
I'm thoroughly convinced it's on youtube's end, not here - and the latest Adobe flash update added another cluster ğck element into the whole deal.
We try to make things mega easy by being able to insert videos without bbcode, and it worked like a charm until about 3 days ago.
This will be an ongoing process. I'm trying to figure out what has changed with youtube and flash that suddenly made things all messed up. This may take a few days to rectify as that info is as easy to get as pulling sharks teeth.
Thanks for your patience everyone, I'm doing my best - but this issue is way deeper than issues here - for the time being I've patched it up as best I can.
Bottom line is flash is being replaced with HTML 5 and those instituting the mods can't get it together.

A bit more on this, and it goes far deeper than I knew. I was digging around and found out what the latest plans are for YouTube. This information is 20 hours old at the time of this post.

A new video codec has been released.

Google has just finished defining its VP9 video codec, and has added it in Chromium ahead of upcoming Chrome and YouTube debut.

If you don't know what Chromium is - it's the open source version of chrome stripped down.

Unless you are willing to build it developer style for windows you can't run it as there is no installer.

Old browsers are going to be left in the dust soon, I'm certain Firefox and even the latest version 10 of Internet Exploder are going to be in a mad scramble to make the new standard work on their browsers.

It also means IE 8 - 9 are becoming obsolete unless you're content to view a mostly text and picture only web.

It's going to leave web site developers like us with sites that don't work across browsers, I believe that's what we are already seeing and it's only going to get worse.

For those still on IE 8, now's the time to make the switch to Chrome or Firefox. I can no longer guarantee support for obsolete unsupported browsers.

Things are changing more rapidly than ever before. The only advice I can give is upgrade Windows and IE, update to FF or Chrome or get Linux in some form or another.

Here's a link to Google's new VP9 video codec that YouTube is in the process of implementing: thenextweb.com

All the time. That's why I ask people post the title of the vid,so I can go to YouTube and search, and watch it on the app directly .
I seem to need the proxy to get in ,every other day ,as if my ip addy changes .
If I'm on the proxy ,its a nightmare ,even for external links ,as it all opens up in the proxy.

Getting ready to do a bunch of major work here soon and solve some of these issues. That's crazy about your IP, it shouldn't be happening.
I've been meaning to get to these and some other issues here, but I've been slammed with other things. Hopefully I can get on these issues in a week or two, and the youtube thing tomorrow.

Ever since I switched over to Comcast a couple months ago, the YouTube videos almost always stop at 2 seconds. Don't know if it's a coincidence or not.

To make them work, the video needs to be taken back to one second. Sopmetimes the video will stall out again. Once again the video needs to go a second or lower for the video to play the rest.

Pray for me. hug.gif
