The "fast radio bursts" included one "double signal" never heard before and have left astronomers buzzing with excitement over the possibility of it being a message with alien origins.
[...]
The curious new double blast - which was accompanied by four "singles"[...] has baffled astronomers analyzing data.[...]

(It) has the largest delay yet recorded of any frequency picked up, suggesting it has an origin of an immense distance away - probably several billion light-years beyond our own galaxy the Milky way. [...]

Not to bust any bubbles but, if indeed it's several billion light-years away, the civilization that created it is probably long gone. Radio transmissions are quite primitive, and part of the Drake equation for ET existence stipulates that most species don't survive their own industrial revolution.
But there is a nice what if? factor.
Technologically advanced civilizations don't really impress me.
Moreover, if and when we should come in contact with some spiritually advanced civilization that require no tech to contact us, no ships to get here... then you've got my attention.

"If television broadcasts can escape into space, this presents quite an intriguing situation, one popularized by astrophysicist Carl Sagan in his book (and later a film) Contact. Nazi Germany's telecast of the 1936 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Berlin was a monumental step forward for television. The ceremony, in which Adolf Hitler prominently figured, reached 41 countries across the planet. But did it also reach outer space, and by extension, could it reach aliens? "

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to poor
