Ah i see.
Well the main advantage i have with IT is i can contract all over the world and do most stuff remotely.

You're on payroll for some company now?

I'd have a bad time going back to working for a boss :/

Yeah I have a day job, but I like it ok.

Maybe I'll have my own business again, I'd like to try something else.

You can do anything you like if you set your mind to it.
Of course, i don't have kids and such to look after, so that's easy for me to say.

I've worked on cruise ships, freight ships, ran a business in the US for a year or so, worked for banks, government (i do right now as well, it's depressing), small companies, big companies, HUGE EVIL companies, etc etc.

But in the end, i care more about life quality and "leave me the ğck alone"-ness than anything else (including money), so that helps a great deal with sanity.

I'll let you in on a secret:

Even with the deadly winters 'n all.
You get to mind your own business

Very hard to make a cent on the side, though, yup...
(unless you are a member of the political class)
you're right about that. But doable, if you're
willing to get hands dirty and shoes worn.

I live in Belgium.
We have none of those things, except for the hard to make money part.

I'm guessing the people who told you that are from Antwerp chuckle.gif

There are some cool things in antwerp city, like the old market place:

The cathedral (which is incredible):

The train station (another amazing building):

The zoo (which is at the train station):

That all seems nice, but here is the reality ...
Those areas are expensive as ğck to live in (in a halfway decent apartment which you can actually stand up in).
Most of the city is just really shitty neighborhoods full of immigrants and misery.

I live in the countryside and it's pretty good.
One thing you have to remember about Belgium is ... it is flat. Flat like a pancake.
When you go south, there are the ardennes, which are also beautiful and non-flat, but most of the country is just ... flat.

The countryside is of course a lot of farm land, and a much lower population density.

Where i live, there are a lot of waterways, so it looks a lot like this all the time:

Here you can see some pics taken by a dude walking through my area:

again, lotsa water where i live:
İmage

The ardennes are definitely (imho) the most beautiful part of belgium.
It is the home of lazy fucks and unemployed people.

We also have lots and lots of castles throughout belgium:

Little towns in the ardennes are also amazing places
Like Durbuy:

They are a control freak society, and i am the polar opposite.

Also ... taxes ... taxes like you wouldn't believe.

I'm familiar with such 15.gif

That's why we're actively working on becoming billionaires so we can buy a kritter island and relocate. Then claim independence and invade the rest of the world.

Well if you are artsy fartsy, then there is a lot to like here, but actually living here is another story.
