Hubby and I were at a pub last night because I wanted a Guiness and so we joined in a trivia game there, one question was which song by Chuck Berry did the BBC ban? It was 'My Ding a Ling'...which we didn't get right. Anyway, it appears the BBC is banning songs left and right.

Quote:The radio and television broadcaster has agonized over whether to play "Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead," a tune from "The Wizard of Oz" that is being driven up the charts by opponents of Margaret Thatcher as a mocking memorial to the late British prime minister.

That 'stick up the arse' attitude (British) has deep-roots here in Canada and we're damn sick of it. gaah.gif

I read the other day the BBC was grappling with use of the term "girl" coffeetime.gif I hope they get that all sorted out, it sounds like a very important issue in the PC arena.

İmage Thanks for that! There looks to be some great listening material there, a lot of which I haven't heard.
I can't fathom the reason behind banning some of these... Charlie Brown? wtf2.gif

Danny Boy is hardly a rally song for the IRA. 13.gif Pretty heavy handed goings on in the BBC.

Yes, this may be taking it too far; politically correctness insanity.

Quote:During the programme, presenter Mark Beaumont, 31, was flung to the ground by a young judo champion, and joked: ‘I am not sure I can live that down – being beaten by a 19-year-old-girl.’.

Critics, however, attacked the move. Tory MP Philip Davies, who sits on the Commons culture, media and sport committee, said: ‘They are finding offence where none is taken or intended.

‘We are going to end up in a situation where nobody is going to dare say anything lest some politically correct zealot deems it offensive.’

To Beyond: You have brought up a very good point, in that, the BBC, historically, only reports war news approved by their gov't.

Quote:The UK BBC has an assertedly good reputation around the world for impartial, authoritative broadcasting - but there is a lot of hard evidence that contradicts this assessment. In reality the BBC is the propaganda arm of the British Government and has an appalling record of censorship, lying by commission and lying by omission in support of continuing British crimes against humanity.

The seriousness of the lying by the BBC is qualitatively and quantitatively directly proportional to the seriousness of the offence as most clearly evident in BBC reportage of horrendous atrocities in which the UK has been involved.

Quote: "Too many slaves in this world, die by torture and pain
Too many people do not see, they're killing themselves, going insane"

"Too many people do not know, bondage is over the human race
They believe slaves always lose and this fear keeps them down"

"Watch the damned, god bless ya,they're gonna break their chains
Hey,no,you can't stop them, god bless ya,they're coming to get you
And then you'll get your balls to the wall man, balls to the wall"

I wonder why the BBC didn't read in inappropriate lyrics in this song?
