Total bummer. He'll be missed, I grew up watching reruns of that show.

What a damn shame. I grew up watching him too. Reports online were that he was an ass, but all I ever heard about him was that he was just an ordinary guy that would hang out with the locals and would treat everyone as if he had known them his entire life.

That link you posted to WITN 7...

That is one of the three TV stations I used to get when I was a kid.

If you have never seen A Face In The Crowd you should watch it. That was his first movie. There was much more to him than Sheriff of Mayberry.

HEY! Don't knock the man in the seersucker suit.

He solved more cases in a few years than the FBI has in decades.

Matlock wasn't much more than a rehashed Sheriff Taylor. Andy was definitely typecast.

Yeah, he was. I do recall him playing the heavy in a couple of movies. He was a good actor, no doubt.

dunno.gif Familiar names 1 or 2 of them, but nope. We didn't have teevee until about...oh 1985. We'd get CBC and BCTV depending on which way the wind blew and holding the rabbit ears just right lol.

Are you kidding? It was staple tv all across America. There were only three channels and between them you could watch Andy Griffith, the Three Stooges, The Little Rascals and Leave it To Beaver.
