A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 jolted northeastern Japan on Wednesday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
No tsunami warning was issued following the 7:12 a.m. quake.
The quake measured upper 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture and 4 in several locations in Fukushima, Miyagi and Ibaraki prefectures, according to the agency.
These areas were severely hit by the devastating March 11 quake.
