I always had a hunch pasta wasn't as bad as they were saying it was.

We're on a low carb diet, my wife makes pasta from zucchini. I can't tell the difference between it and regular.

Well the article also explained that the amount you eat at a sitting and times per week makes all the difference. I would also think what type of sauce you eat it with may be the fat maker culprit - same with eating salad with a high calorie dressing.

Eggs are now good.

Butter is now good.

Potatoes are now good.

Peanuts and Peanut Butter are now good. Some recent evidence has shown increased weight loss for people who replace less healthy proteins, such as processed meats, with peanut butter.

My strategy is to eat three moderate meals of basic, unprocessed food. No snacks, no fast food or junk food. I don't eat meat with nitrates, like bacon.

As I get older, I naturally want to eat lighter (no snacking, junk food rarely) and less meat for sure, but I like to indulge in bacon now and again (moderately).

Same for us, but bacon is on the menu once in a great while.
Nitrates can cause elevated BP and have been linked to cancer so we limit them.
I personally avoid tyramine like the plague, foods containing that give me migraines, and can't handle any form of sulfite, so wine and cheese are off the table.

Everything in moderation. Even too much water will kill you.

Common sense goes a long way. Eat mainly what grows where you live and other local produce, that is sustainable. I eat shitloads of berries because they grow in abundance here.

And also it's not chocolate that is healthy, it's the cocoa part in it.

Funny you should mention sulfite levels, because I just switched to drinking only wine from France and so far every one I tried seems to not affect me in adverse ways as wines from other countries do.

Sulfites are the only food additive known to kill a few people yearly. I know that only because I have the same problem, It gave me a life threatening asthma attack and I don't have asthma.

It sounds like you had a serious allergic reaction. But, sulfites are mostly found in processed foods, so it's easy to avoid. But for determining levels of sulfites in wine, I will have to do some more experimenting in this area.

Aged cheeses have naturally occurring sulfites, so it's probably a good idea to avoid cheddar and hard cheeses, Romano Parmesan etc.
