I am ready to be Israel's next prime minister, declares Isaac Herzog
Isaac Herzog, Israel's opposition leader, vowed on Tuesday to "reignite" peace talks with the Palestinians and recapture the spirit of Zionism from Right-wingers as he confidently declared he would be the country's next prime minister.
Choosing his words carefully, Mr Herzog said he would "try to reignite" the peace process with the Palestinians that collapsed last year on Mr Netanyahu's watch. He would do so, he said, by engaging Jordan and Egypt, two neighbours with which Israel has signed peace treaties.
"Zionism as it was promoted by the founding fathers of our nation was a movement that encompassed all the people of this land, gave ample opportunity for everybody to have a good life and extended our hand in peace to our neighbours," he said. "In recent years, certain elements have come to think that they own Zionism. They have taken Zionism far away from what it was meant to be."
I can see by your coat my friend you're from the other side. Just one thing I got to know. Who won?
