House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today named the seven Republican members of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. The Select Committee also provides for five Democratic members, and those names will be released when provided by the House Minority Leader. Boehner issued the following statement:

“This investigation is about getting answers for the families of the victims and for the American people. These members have each demonstrated a commitment to this goal, and I have confidence that they will lead a serious, fact-based inquiry. As I have expressed to each of them, I expect this committee to carry out an investigation worthy of the American lives lost in Benghazi. I also urge my Democratic colleagues to treat this tragedy with the proper respect and appoint members so that we can finally, on a bipartisan basis, get answers, provide accountability, and help deliver justice. It is critical that this committee do its work in a focused, timely manner, so that the House can continue to make the economy and job creation its priorities.”

The Republican members of the Select Committee will be:

Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN)
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Chairman
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)
Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS)
Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL)
Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL)
Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA)

Why does the 9/11 commission come to mind? coffeetime.gif

This is what I think happened at Benghazi. 2012 pres elections are neck and neck, BO needs some trick to pull from his ass. Bin laden was a flop, he played a major card and lost to the dealer. So he was to go in after a few days and have his Carter moment ala Iranian hostage crisis only things went badly wrong (you don't say) and his patsies were killed.

Just my take.

That may well be, Shadow.
Sounds plausible to me.

Or it could go the way of the Watergate Commission, but... this isn't the 70's either, when there was actually a somewhat free press.

Jeb and Christie don't stand a snowballs chance in hell. They will only get the nod if, once again, the establishment RINO's do not want a Republican in the White House.
More of the same is not an option.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi still won’t say whether she will appoint Democrats to participate in the newly formed House committee to investigate the attacks in Benghazi — explaining that her party is conflicted over whether it does them any good.

“The fact is this is a stunt,” Pelosi said in a Friday news conference at the Capitol about the committee. “This is a political stunt.”

On Thursday, lawmakers in the House passed a bill to formally establish the new committee to investigate the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya that left four Americans dead, including Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya. It comes after more than a year of various hearings from other committees in Congress.

Jeb Bush is making an overture to Iowa.

The former Florida governor will host a fundraiser in Coral Gables for Gov. Terry Branstad on May 22, the Iowan's campaign aides confirmed to The Des Moines Register.

It likely will be viewed as a way for Bush to make his Iowa debut for the 2016 presidential cycle - without coming to Iowa.

Whether Bush will commit to running for the White House remains a question mark. But any brushes with the influential residents of Iowa, the state that has the front row seat in the presidential nominating process, tends to whip speculation into a frenzy.

In an interview last month on Fox News, Bush said he'll make up his mind "at the end of this year" about a presidential bid.http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/n...r/8768641/ he knows he has the republican establishment backing

The Democrats have to attend the political stunt to know whats in it.
