Bizarre Superfluid with Negative Mass Created in a Lab

Scientists have created a new superfluid that has a negative mass, meaning that if it's pushed to the right, it accelerates to the left and vice versa.

The bizarre behavior may sound like a freakish violation of nature, but it is a phenomenon that physicists have seen hints of before. However, this is the first time that negative mass has been demonstrated without ambiguity in a lab,

Quote:
If, somehow, an experiment created conditions in which gravitational mass turned negative, that would likely violate fundamental physics laws, and things would get weird — fast. For instance, if there were a negative gravitational mass particle and a positive mass particle in proximity, one would be attracted to the other, while the other would be repelled. So one particle would essentially chase the other one forever, reaching infinitely high speeds, Forbes said.

That's the most interesting paragraph I've read in some time.
Particles in perpetual motion, and the subsequent energy that could be generated from that would be true zero point.
On the other hand, good luck with that negative gravitational mass.

I had a negative mass fart go up my ass once. It smelled and when it got sucked in the air smelt great

That's quite a tale. If you get sick on Superfluid with Negative Mass do you throw down instead of up?

My first thought...

...the opposite direction would be towards an invisible wall...is that the pusher (man)? chuckle.gif

Quote:To create negative mass, the researchers applied a second set of lasers that kicked the atoms back and forth and changed the way they spin. Now when the rubidium rushes out fast enough, if behaves as if it has negative mass. "Once you push, it accelerates backwards," said Forbes, who acted as a theorist analyzing the system. "It looks like the rubidium hits an invisible wall."

I don't know.

Women...

I love their unpredictable ways.

Wouldn't call it 'negative' in a negative meaning at all, though 13.gif

Au contraire...it's attractive as heck to me

obviously
