It was written in the stars! 15-year-old discovers a forgotten Mayan City hidden in the Mexican jungle by studying constellations
William Gadoury from Quebec found location of Mayan cities match stars
Using charts and satellite photos he's pinpointed a possible 'lost' city
K'aak Chi or 'Mouth of Fire' looks as if it has a pyramid and 30 buildings
If this is true, it would make the Mayan settlement one of the fifth largest

As the story continues to spread, so does the skepticism. David Stuart, anthropologist from The Mesoamerica Center-University of Texas at Austin, said via his Facebook page: "This current news story of an ancient Maya city being discovered is false..." Thomas Garrison, an anthropologist at USC Dornsife, told Gizmodo that the objects are relic corn fields.

Hate to be a killjoy but this is BS.

Still, it's good to see some young people are interested in exploration.

At least he is trying. If I had had internet when I was 15 I would have been discovering new sex positions.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

This kid thought he found an ancient Mayan city on Google earth based on the assumption that they built their complexes as a mirror map of the stars, sorta' like the pyramids in Egypt appear to be laid out based on Orion's belt.
Where he was looking, and he did find something, but it wasn't a city, and in fact it was a corn field. chuckle.gif
Kinda' anti climactic.
