Quote:The Vive is a new technology bracelet that was created by students at the University of Washington and presented at the annual Design Expo at the Microsoft Research Facility Summit this summer. It monitors your dehydration levels and drunk levels through your skin, and stops responding to a small squeeze when you’ve had too much. So what if you just forget to squeeze it and keep on chugging those fruity beers with that cute boy?

The real genius behind the bracelet isn’t just that it monitors you, but it also connects with all of those aforementioned friends you’re hanging out with. If you imbibe too much, the bracelet alerts your friend who can then find you in the crowded bar with the GPS function and potentially save you from a) doing something you regret, or b) putting yourself in a dangerous situation.

I think this a great idea. thumbsup.gif

Really? Oh well, then it's a trade off - potential added safety or everyone knowing you are boozing and partying too much.

Following up a little, some articles recognize the potential to prevent sexual assault. I'd want to know if a friend of mine was heading that direction.

Yes that's why I gave it a thumbs up, for potential added safety...well, hopefully, friends won't be drunk too and be able to stop any bad judgement calls.

I could've used one at the last gymkhana. Neighbor of mine got really drunk and offended a lot of people including my (sober) daughter rather nastily. Last weekend there was a blow out here over it, upshot is that neighbor isn't welcome anywhere, Jillie and Claire are gone tissueguy.gif

Most people who get stinking drunk do turn confrontational or nasty, it's very rare that you will find a person who is a jolly drunk; alcohol is a depressant after all.

I am so sorry your daughter had to endure that abuse, and that your gift of experiencing life with horses and your acquaintenance or friendship with that woman is over.

Why didn't she reflect on her mistake in drinking too much and her subsequent behaviour and simply apologize?

Do you still have the bees on your property?

I don't know US. M (who was so drunk) owes my other neighbor T money for farrier work. M's husband got nasty with T, he owes her too. And I got caught in the middle. M stomped over here without a word to me, took Jillie and Claire away. I've fed, farriered and doctored 3 of her horses since May for free and she walked past me in my own yard without a word, and took her animals back. I also put about $400 worth of pro training on Claire so she wouldn't go to the meat auction. Not even a thank you for that. Her fight was with T, but T was here and I got blown off. Add the insults to my kid, the money she's owed T for 5 months.

M really blew it.

It sounds if they M and her husband are looking for any excuse not to pay what they owe.

Little bird

It was thought that flying birds were in communion with the gods. They were believed to have knowledge to which only the gods were privy and which humans could only learn if they spoke the language of birds. Perhaps this explains why many seers travelled to their ancestors in the guise of a bird. The bird was a messenger between man and the gods.

There are some fine pieces there that I would love to own.

What an interesting story:

Quote:Writer Elsa Heporauta (1883-1960) founded Kalevala Jewelry. She wanted to establish a statue to honor the Finnish woman. The manufacturing of Kalevala Jewelry was started to fund the statue.

I like it very much. I don't often wear jewelry, but when I do it's most likely Kalevala.

I have lots of bling but never wear it, other than my Rennie MacIntosh wedding band.
