A Brooklyn man who served nearly 25 years in prison for murder until he was acquitted after a 2013 retrial filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the city and the NYPD detectives he claims botched the investigation.
The name of a different suspect had emerged in 2001 in a federal investigation of a Jamaican drug crew called the Patio Crew, but that information took years to reach Derrick Deacon as he rotted behind bars.
It took a jury only nine minutes to clear Deacon of the 1989 robbery-slaying.....
