Quote:The weak economy is hitting Americans where they spend a lot of their free time: at the TV set.

They're canceling or forgoing cable and satellite TV subscriptions in record numbers, according to an analysis by The Associated Press of the companies' quarterly earnings reports.

The U.S. subscription-TV industry first showed a small net loss of subscribers a year ago. This year, that trickle has turned into a stream. The chief cause appears to be persistently high unemployment and a housing market that has many people living with their parents, reducing the need for a separate cable bill.

But it's also possible that people are canceling cable, or never signing up in the first place, because they're watching cheap Internet video. Such a threat has been hanging over the industry. If that's the case, viewers can expect more restrictions on online video, as TV companies and Hollywood studios try to make sure that they get paid for what they produce.

A blow to the indoctrination education & brainwashing system.
Couple that with the fact they can't give newspapers away these days, which means a big control mechanism is being rendered obsolete. Look at the statistics, people don't trust the MSM anymore than they trust politicians.

Getting close to a year for us. We rent movies from Netflix and screw the rest. The only thing I miss is football.

No, not that mansy pansy baggy shorts wearing, injury faking, round ball using, foot dribbling bullshit cousin to hippy hacky sack you ferners call football and play on a god damn pitch! I'm talking about a REAL sport that is played on a GRIDIRON! The sport that is so tough you have to wear pads to survive. Soccer... pfffttt... That's football fer wimmin.

I am not your rolling wheels, I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind, I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon, I am the night

To me American'football' is a pointless sport, roid raged filled guys running around like headless chickens. Its more infotainment that a sport with commercials more important than the activity on the field. Has constant interruptions. In short its a clown show.

Football, The world's most watched and played sport in the world.

If you want a true contact sport, take off the pads and helmets,American 'football' players. Go down to the Rugby field. 2011 happens to be a World Cup year, taking place in New Zealand.

Is that a tackle or a badword?

Rugby players don't wear pads because they can't hit hard enough to need them.
