Great article on the bees, though this irresponsible policy pisses me off! cheers.gif Most of the info I read indicated the govt was pointing the finger at cell phones. gaah.gif Thats the way that works, it will be years before the government admits making a mistake, and people on the inside are probably making a killing in food commodity futures trading.

Due to intense pressure, the following statement was released today, April 7, 2011, by the National Research Council of Canada:

UPDATE - Thursday, April 7, 2011: The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) issued a statement to clarify that it has no plans to research genetically modified (GM) wheat.
NRC now states: "GM wheat is not an objective of the NRC wheat program. We will be developing a number of tools that will be used to reduce the breeding cycle, increase yield and adapt to climate stresses. GM varieties are not contemplated at this time."

I can't find anything official on it yet, hope it's true.

Interesting enough. I'll ask my Brother in Law about it later when he returns from Africa. He's one of those that is highly educated but never found a job in the public sector. He has some professional degree in agriculture and taps into University revenues when not tapping into family revenues. Travels around the world teaching farmers agriculture techniques and studies regional farming. A wanna be Frenchy from Quebec now in Zimbabwe (sp). Believe his stint there is another 2-years but will be in Toronto this summer. I have hopes of making it there to see my mother and vacation on some nearby cottage property... He would know but the question is whether I can stomach his attitude.

rofl.gif We're all professional students in Finland, our Renault mechanic is a microbiologist and the cashiers at KKK market are brain surgeons.
İmage

It's the supermarket that makes Somali immigrants apprehensive.

Octo it's Brother in Law. Depending on his mood his answer will be either a long drawn out lecture or a short smug answer with a attitude.

Octo he has dragged my sister all over the world, she's had Malaria 3-times, broke her leg in a village just outside Papua New Guinea, leg set wrong developed a infection and had to fly her to Australia to get it re-broken and treat infection. Almost lost her leg. Subjected her to dangerous locations with rebel uprisings. Think this gig will be their last or she is leaving him/ Thank God.

Shadow have you ever driven down Trans Canada Highway through Saskatchewan and seen the vast wheat fields? Amazing...Only place I've seen a reduced speed limit due to grasshoppers chuckle.gif. At times there are so many grasshoppers that they can plug up your radiator and car will overheat in the middle of nowhere and/or the highway gets so greasy from splattered grasshoppers the road becomes super slick... Not sure if it's still that way or not, been a long time/college years when I worked summer jobs up in Ft. McCurray (sp) in the tarsands for college money then traveled east through Canada then down back to Texas.

hug.gif Haven't driven the trans Canada that far East Taco, but must be much like Alberta, the vast wheat fields. My cousins husband (from Sask) said to me once "How can you stand to live in BC, it's all mountains, you can't see far at all" I said "On the prairies there's noting to see" He says "Yeah but at least you can SEE it" rofl.gif rofl.gif Flatlanders chuckle.gif
