WASHINGTON—Canada, the U.S. and Britain have launched a new round of sanctions aimed at pressuring Iran to stop its suspected nuclear weapons program.
The sanctions target Iran’s financial and energy sector and could be followed in the coming days by similar new measures from the European Union.
The new wave of international pressure comes after a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency on Nov. 8 showing suspicious activity at a nuclear site southwest of Tehran. The report, drawn from satellite imagery, documents the unusual movement of trucks and equipment from the site.
So the sanctions state any country doing business with Iran are prohibited from doing business with the US. But China is a huge!! buyer of Iranian crude and LNG. Does the US think they can get away with this? China holds some $1.2 trillion in US T-bills. WTF are they thinking?
