It sure looks like the cat became self-aware. I use to carry my kittens to a mirror and show them what they look like.

I question the general assumption that felines are inherently deficient in the area of grammar and sentence structure.

We've always had cats and dogs and fish and birds ect,ect but when cats and dogs or any other animal see themselves in a mirror or upon the surface of water,do they think they're seeing themselves? or do they think they are seeing another separate animal? and are they even capable of thinking and knowing in those human ways? because so many people intentionally or unintentionally place a human face and human characteristics upon non human animals, meaning, are animals even able to comprehend what they're looking at when they see their reflections? and I know for sure how lots of people like to think they're able to,but can they really?

Well mine did. I would also teach them their names...I'd point to me and say my name, which btw included mom, mommy, dearie etc. (poor animal) and then point to the cat and say their name. They would lie there and learn and when I wanted them to come in from the outside at nighttime I'd yell their name(s) and they'd always come a running home.

That's kinda creepy!

How the cat puts it's paw up makes it seem like they "get it"!damned.gif

I think some do and some don't. My cats always seemed to get it. Maybe because I would introduce the mirror to them while holding them, so they would recognize me holding them. Also, I always had multiple cats, so when one cat would be at the mirror the other would be visible in the mirror, again, a familiar cat beside the other cat and also in the mirror. Anyway, my cats didn't attack mirrors when they saw their images.

I've never met a cat that didn't like me.

I think I have a bit of feline DNA in me.

They've always liked me as well, but sadly I started to become allergic. I've had them all my life. This just started a few years ago.
