Paris (AFP) - Chinese police will help patrol tourist destinations in Paris this summer after a rise in muggings and attacks on Chinese tourists, a source in France's interior ministry said Tuesday.

All hell would break loose and with good reason. I wonder how the French feel about that

yes, i sent a memo direct to them before posting here.. important business for us agents..

they essentially are sending tourist police, surely the French wouldnt give a shït, if it means more tourists coming there? it must be a issue if its gotten to this level..

i am curious to know why Americans find it so odd?

Well I found it odd. It must be some special cozy French liaison with the Chinese that made this happen. Everybody is rubbing legs with the Chinese.

Foreign troops on American soil left a bad taste in peoples mouth a couple hundred years ago. I would think the French would have some more recent memories of similar.
The Posse Comitatus Act is the United States federal law that was passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1981. Its intent was to limit the powers of Federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce the state laws.
In other words, there is an act that prevents American troops from policing the streets, let alone foreign troops or police.
You might feel different about how odd you find it if you had to pay off Russian Police gangs to let you walk out of your door every day without getting the living shït beat out of you.
If abuse can happen, it sure as ğck will.

troops? Are they sending troops? Like the 150 countries around the world that have American military troops..

the link says police for tourists, cause Asian tourists are easy targets in our countries cause they are so clueless and not street smart. To have them in certain tourist spots is a non issue.

dunno.gif Maybe so, could be more like body guards for Chinese citizens abroad I guess. Was using troops an as example for the US "let alone foreign troops or police" so, yeah...not exactly the same situation.
If it were up to me there would be no American troops stationed all over the world. That world police gig has to end for so many reasons, with economic considerations at the top of the list.

Let's hope they sent the Chinese to the Muslim areas of Paris.
