Quote:Some residents are planning to protest the Dixon’s vice mayor during a council meeting Tuesday night.

Ted Hickman recently wrote an editorial using homophobic slurs and calling for “straight pride month.”

Big deal. Gays call themselves, and each other, fairies and fag/faggot all the time. Just like blacks call each other "the N word" all the time. Saying it's ok for them to say those things and forbidding other from saying it means the words mean nothing more than an attempt to control what others say.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

Quote:“This is a cultural battle. He’s just trying to have one straight pride,” said Dan Gruddman, Chairman of California Constitution Party.”

But for the majority of people who showed up, it’s about acceptance for all and holding elected officials accountable.

Calling for straight pride is nothing to protest about, but derogatory slurs against others life choices is, imo.

I have to ask myself, why is he so bothered or triggered?

Quote:Last Friday, apparently perturbed by a minority group celebrating their hard-earned rights, freedoms, and pride, Hickman penned an offensive op-ed in the local newspaper calling for July to be "Straight People Awareness Month." Add Ted to the list of other ignorant and privileged men in power who have similarly asked why there isn't a "White History Month" or a "Men's Rights Movement."

Apart from his cluelessness, his column was just plain callous. In it he calls gay people "tinker bells" and "faries" (sic), refers to Gay Pride Month as LGBTQF-WTF month and even implies that gay people don't care about their country.

"[Straight people] honor our country and our veterans who have made all of this possible (including for the tinker bells) and we can do it with actual real pride, not some put on a show just to help our inferior complex 'show we are different' type of crap."

Really? Is and was every person in the U.S. military straight?
