Quote:A secondary school is ‘streaming’ pupils based on ability in an attempt to attract those from well-off families.

From the age of 11 all pupils are segregated – taught in separate colour-coordinated buildings, play in fenced-off areas and eat lunch at separate times.

Pupils are ranked as they leave primary school and placed into one of three mini schools at Crown Woods College, Greenwich.....Mr Murphy is one of the highest-paid headteachers in England, last year earning £171,483.

Treated just like live stock.

Ah, so the children of wealthy parents are the gifted ones. rofl.gif

I'll not comment on the wealthy thing except to say that it is just ridiculous.

The rest of it, however, I can more than understand. Not so much the different uniforms, but separating them by ability should definitely be done. When I was a kid there were up to four different levels of classes. We had GT (Gifted and Talented), A (Smart, but not gifted), B (Not so smart, but smarted than), Special Ed (We are talking short bus here). There was nothing wrong with this system. Somewhere along the line some bleeding heart moron decided that it would hurt the feelings of the lower level kids to be put in lower level classes. The answer? To lump them all together and deny the smarter kids a better education by dumbing down the classes for the slower kids. That is probably the biggest problem with the education system in America today.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice
