I don't understand this at all but this comment seems to be optimistic

Quote:This system bypasses the corporate-controlled internet entirely, turning vast numbers of smart phones, tablets, and laptops within an urban area into a packet switching network that can operate entirely without connection to the traditional internet or the cell phone network. It works by sending packets of data directly from device to device to device, from sender to recipient. With enough installations on consumer devices, activists across a city will still be in constant communication even if the government shuts off the cell phones and internet.

Very cool if true

I've worked with a lot of AX.25 amateur radio packet. Not much for the last 10 or 12 years, but, it wasn't real fast. I haven't looked at the hardware spect on this but it sounds pretty cool even if its not fast. Sure would solve some of the problems of the crap that gets thrown at these protests. I think I'm going to investigate this further.

Hey KritterRanger! cheers.gif Glad to see you made it.

Yes sounds promising indeed. I bet that scares the shït out of the establishment, not being able to control the internet. 13.gif

I see, P2P. Sounds very interesting. Skype used to be that way but now all info is routed through the States since Microsoft purchased it.
So now everything can be monitored for our safety coffeetime.gif
Octo and I have been looking into this as an alternate, we should get it going and help you get yours happening as well. It's a bit more difficult to set up than skype, but it's open source and encrypted.
