artford - Connecticut Democratic State Representative Tim Larson told a local news outlet that he wants to change the date of Halloween. Due to various reasons, Larson wants to make Halloween on the last Saturday of October.
The date of Halloween originates from Ireland in the fifth century BC where summer officially ended, Oct. 31. The holiday was called Samhain, the Celtic New Year. Apart from that, millions of families in the Western world have celebrated Halloween on Oct. 31, despite if it falls on a weeknight.

Finns have embraced the North American tradition of Halloween and it is helping costume stores around the country make a killing.

Halloween is celebrated on the last day of October, but Halloween parties are usually thrown in Finland in the last weekend in October. While Finns have welcomed suiting up as ghouls and goblins, Halloween trick-or-treating, a small-town America tradition, has not similarly taken hold in Finland.

Big Halloween party 'Monsters of Rock' next weekend here in town. I certainly hope my Amy Winehouse Rehab wig arrives before that coffeetime.gif
