Biggest Public Firms Paid Little U.S. Tax, Study Says

Warren E. Buffett, take note. It is not just a few wealthy individuals paying unusually low taxes to the federal government. Corporate America is not far behind.

A comprehensive study released on Thursday found that 280 of the biggest publicly traded American companies faced federal income tax bills equal to 18.5 percent of their profits during the last three years — little more than half the official corporate rate of 35 percent and lower than their competitors in many industrialized countries.

Mr. Buffett, the billionaire investor, has said that the tax code is unfair, allowing him to pay just 17 percent in federal taxes last year, about half the percentage his secretary paid.

As always, more there.

So much for the belief that the top 1% pay 45% of the taxes.

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to poor

The top 1% are the ones who can afford lobbyists to make certain they pay as little taxes as possible. We the people can't compete with that, we just elect them, then they represent the rich.
What happens if NOBODY votes for anybody? This systems not set up for that scenario. hmm.gif

US Corporations pay taxes ? News to me. They are waiting for Obama to give them a tax free holiday, so they can ship back all their loot at a low rate, just like they did a few years back. It'll be sold as "money for job creation" which is a load of BS.

We have the same system here. The richest people don't pay the most taxes because it has to be a somewhat attractive option to be rich. The reason the middle class pay the highest taxes is because they're the largest group. Corporate tax here is 28% of the profit unless they've changed it since I went to business class.

here's the truth if companies don't get a break of some kind eg taxes and they don't make a profit? then they close their doors and move to a place where they can make a profit don't forget that they alsopay
\ employees insurance and workers compensation encase a worker is injured this all comes out of profit and with out profit nobody would have a bloody job! higher taxes mean fewer jobs sop bitching people and remember those companies who turn a profit are the same ones who will hire people and help the economy grow here in Ontario ğkking taxes are killing small business owners I know this cause i am one taxes can take up tp 30% or more from a company making a profit here and also many corporations donate huge amounts of money to charities and hospitals but the public never hears his.. If you're too lazy to start your own company and bitch about companies making money? then here's an idea get a ğkking trade! fi the best job you can get is working at walmart as a greeter or shelf stocker? than that's nobody's fault but your own i've been working since i was 13yrs and raised by a single parent, never had anything given to me and always had to work for what i have, decided one day that things needed to change so i decided to become a mechanic, worked 2 years for $7 per hour d while still having to feed myself and pay bills etc after a 5year apprenticeship working for some of the worst assholes employers a person could ever have i wrote my mechanics test and passed then opened my own company as a mobile tractor trailer mechanic and even after being hit in 02 by a mack truck / driver was drunk i still worked every day and now even after a stroke and crash i am planning on returning to work as a mobiletractor trailer mechanic

moral of my post is stop ğkking bitching and get a trade! people! don't blame corps for your problems, blame yourself! cheers.gif
