Once , just once , I got a might confused in a Forest .

walked and walked and ,, shït ,,,, where's that Trail I stepped off of ?

Sat down , Sun goiing down fast
I didn't have anything with me , no flash light
and no Moon for hours to come

I;m LOST !

looked West , Sun dropped behind a distant ridge

I spit twice ,,, hard , DAMMIT !

I looked back west
gone sun
Then it struck me , I was headed South just now
my ear on my right was hot earlier on my way in
if I was headed North when I walked in , my left ear would have been in the Sun , not my right ear

stood up and looked North

mdder facking bitch

headed north

got so dark the ground faded away

Grabbed a Branch and Dried Deer Grass
lit it

a few minutes I heard a vehicle

then saw it's headlights

Ranger pulled up , freaked about the fire

I snuffed it out
said : I'm lost

he asked do you know this is a National Forest ?

then you know where you are , you're not lost

fucker , can I have a lift please
He laughed

I had three more miles to go

but I wasn't lost after all
he was right
I knew where I was

I just didn't know where my Van was

That reminds me of one of the dates with hubby. I was a hiker and so I planned a date for an easy 4 mile hike, then pub afterwards for lunch. So, I didn't bring the map of Halton Hills because it was on the Bruce Trail and the path is marked. Anyway, we got lost, probably being too immersed in nature and each other, we strayed from the path. Twelve miles (and most of the day) later we poked through the brush to a road, so we followed it to the main entrance (saved!). In retrospect, is was the best hike I ever had because we happened upon a beaver family busily doing their thing and I noticed rare wild flowers and such.

That is too awesome when you're off the beaten path and find out
nature , the best of , doesn't hang near it .

LOL , best time , that' cracked me up ,, no telling
how much better it can get when far away from others
and a little bit lost .
good story

So true, so get lost everyone. But I also took a college course in finding edibles off the beaten track, and turning over logs to look for grubs was certainly not pretty.
