Doomsday Weapons

While reading about salted bombs and remembering the movie Dr. Strangelove and it's Doomsday weapon in it (which was based on an real weapon that was even crazier than the one in the movie), it reminded me of a thing that the character Dr.Strangelove said which went something along the lines that such weapons (or something like them) could be created by any developed country with sufficient resources. While things like 9/11 may seem kind of scary to something (whether or not they did or din't have inside help of some kind) I think weapons like the theoretical 'doomsday machine' (a large salted nuclear bomb that supposedly could kill everyone on earth) I think are more of a threat to national security and our way of life than most acts of terrorism we have encountered.

While I don't agree with many aspects on the war on terror, I believe the problem that if terrorist had more resources and could increase the scope of their attacks to do some real harm is a threat that we don't take seriously enough.

For example if the terrorist wished to inflict mass causalities that could of gone into one of the countries where the Ebola outbreak happened, collected samples of the virus, infected several of their own volunteers/martyrs, and sent such people on missions to get to various populated centers and spread it to others. If they had some addition time and resources they might even been able to create different strains. While I know that terrorist would do something that is more dramatic and maybe less insidious as spreading plagues (which could come back to even their own people), if may not be entirely out of the scope of them trying something like this.

While I don't know what the exact outcome would be, I'm pretty sure it would have been worse then just trying to contain the people who where trying to flee that area but maybe didn't even know they had it already. I'm pretty sure someone at the DoD realized the potential of such a situation since it didn't take long before the US military stepped in to help contain and secure some of the areas suffering from the outbreak.

What are you guys thoughts on this? zombie.gif

I found a few article about Russia's Perimeter/Dead Hand systems (which I don't think is that much of a secret to people familiar with events during the cold war since we always kind of knew they had something like it) and revised plans on building and using cobalt dirty bombs as well.

...who says that the cold war ever really ended. blink.gif

One could argue, that Sweden lost the 30 Years War,
because marching around looting to be able to
afford marching around looting was not sustainable
anymore. The northern German lands lay in ruins.

The modern hijrah is different.
It will not work unless the host nation provides.

Until critical mass is achieved.

Islam, in turn, is being played exactly like Mr Pike
allegedly foretold.

My other thoughts on this is that it is all utterly and
completely insane. And that governments historically
and presently always are the biggest terrorists.

Mama Rossija is big.

Mr Putin is surrounded by people who understand,
why the Swedes had to call it a day that time in 1648,
as mentioned above.

The Caliphate gets it, too.

Now, the USA is the one with how many bases in how
many countries..?

chuckle.gif The Cold War, indeed.

The Cold War was the second most successful advertising campaign in history behind only religion.

It was a lie.

A population controlling, money making lie.

They were never going to fire any nuclear missiles. Why?

Mutually assured destruction.

What would be the point. Earth would be uninhabitable by anyone including the ruling elite.

They want population reduction and control but they want to keep ruling. History has shown war is ineffective at that. Plagues are unpredictable and can not be controlled. Terrorism? Merely mood control devices and distractions.

So, how do you drastically reduce the numbers of the right people?

Tell them it's going to keep getting warmer and hide the coming mini ice age that will cause most of them to starve and/or freeze to death.

Risk free population control.

What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice
