NASA asking for global selfies..."Post your photo to Twitter, Instagram or Google+ using the hashtag #GlobalSelfie, or post it to the #GlobalSelfie event page on Facebook or the #GlobalSelfie group on Flickr. You can also join the #GlobalSelfie Google+ event page"

Quote:This satellite data helps NASA scientists piece together a clear picture of our planet from a scientific viewpoint. On this Earth Day, we wanted to create a different picture of our planet -- a crowd-sourced collection of snapshots of the people of Earth that we could use to create one unique mosaic of the Blue Marble.

Earth Day

By Jane Yolen

I am the Earth

And the Earth is me.

Each blade of grass,

Each honey tree,

Each bit of mud,

And stick and stone

Is blood and muscle,

Skin and bone.

And just as I

Need every bit

Of me to make

My body fit,

So Earth needs

Grass and stone and tree

And things that grow here

Naturally.

That’s why we

Celebrate this day.

That’s why across

The world we say:

As long as life,

As dear, as free,

I am the Earth

And the Earth is me.

Why a selfie, you ask?

The Earth is beautiful.

But most human large-scale endeavours look like cancers on her skin.

We get blamed for it all, but it's govts, corporations and an economy based on unsustainable consumerism that's a wrench in the gears of mother earth.
Nothing makes me madder than when someone as brain dead as Prince Chuck says it's our fault, and we need to reduce our carbon footprint as he's flying in his Lear jet to Africa on safari.
Real leaders lead by example, and obviously, we have no real leaders, just banks and corporations in suits set up as puppets to give the sheep the illusion of choice.
I'm off to the vomitorium now, puke.gif just thinking about that BS hypocrisy has that effect on me.

A friend of mine bought a house on Manitoulin Island and is transitioning to off-the-grid living, just as we hope to do. We all need to change our lifestyle either a little bit here and there, or a lot. What's that wonderful saying? "Be the change you want to see in the world".

My friend offered her home for us to use during our road trips as she doesn't like retirement living and is coming back to the big City for a little while.

Darn NASA wants the global selfie's today.

She said the land/home and hundreds of orbs give off good vibes to everyone, after I asked her if the land and/or house was haunted.

We donated our old working fridge to Habitat for Humanity, and even though the ice maker was broken they were very very happy to get it. yay.gif
