"Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that if Ecuador grants Snowden asylum, 'I will lead the effort to prevent the renewal of Ecuador's duty-free access under GSP and will also make sure there is no chance for renewal of the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act.'

Communications minister Fernando Alvarez told a news conference in the Ecuadoran capital Quito that the pact, which already faced an uphill battle for renewal, had become 'a new instrument of blackmail.'

He said his country of 15 million people 'does not accept threats from anybody, and does not trade in principles, or submit to mercantile interests, as important as they may be.'

In a pointed jab at Washington over Snowden's revelations on data-gathering by NSA, Alavarez said Ecuador offered $23 million per year to the United States to finance human rights training.

He said the money would be aimed at helping avoid violations of privacy, torture and other actions that are denigrating to humanity."

Wow.

Ecuador apparently doesn't like to be blackmailed. The aren't happy with Assange lying about documents Snowden never received from Ecuador.

Quote:The deputy foreign minister of Ecuador, Galo Galarza, said yesterday that it has no document has been extended to the former analyst of the CIA, Edward Snowden, who is currently on a terminal in Moscow since last Sunday.

“He (Snowden) does not has a document issued by the Ecuador as a passport or refugee card as mentioned,” said Galarza. The confusion arose after last Monday, when the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange said Snowden “received a passing refugee document by the Government of Ecuador,” he also clarified that this does not mean that the South American country has already given Snowden the asylum he request.

Galarza ended by adding that “the Government of the Russian Federation mentioned that he (Snowden) can travel freely.”

So, why would Assange lie? IMO both he and Snowden are active agents - CIA.

Why didn't the US get Snowden in HK? The US had the WRONG middle name and NO passport number on the documents. HOW CAN THIS BE? INTENTIONAL.

Quote:He said Hong Kong immigration records listed Snowden's middle name as Joseph, but the US government used the name James in some documents.

Yuen said US authorities had also not provided his passport number.

And now Greenwald is moving to the US with his "partner." How does his bank account look? If he wasn't "in on it", he wouldn't feel safe coming here. Haven't some journalists mysteriously died lately?

I will give the CIA One Dollar to come up with a better operation than the one that they have so poorly constructed.

Oh yeah, the NSA can track all your teenage daughter's tweets, but they can't find one of their own agents chuckle.gif

Of course he's a CIA assett just as Assange, or he'd never have gotten the media coverage he has. Real whistlblowers -Hastings for ie- are either ignored or ICEd.

hug.gif morning JR

Yeah that was pretty good. The US tried to bully B.C. quite fanatically over legalizing small amounts of mj. Worked with Alberta but B.C. told them to shove it. We learned from the softwood lumber agreement compliance does nothing but lead to more bullying.

Thank god their influence means nothing to most of the world. They throw millions in aid to the Mideast where they burn the flag. Serves 'em right, dumbass is as dumbass does.

He calls the NSA a rogue agency and claims wiretap info on many people in high places such as the whitehouse and the supremes. Really makes me wonder who's behind the NSA coffeetime.gif
