There has always been speculation that some or most hauntings or occult behaviors have been family secrets. Many family members are afraid to speak about such matters because of religious beliefs or fear of ridicule. The family secret can be anything from satanic ritual abuse to exposure to an occult activity at an early age. There has also been the ever-present secret of an entity somehow finding its way into the room of a child.
The family psychodynamic is never truly analyzed. Most families are already written off as dysfunctional and the secrets they keep are sometimes dark and disturbing.
One of the more intriguing pieces of fiction regarding a dark family secret is Stephen King’s novel Carrie. Carrie White is a misfit trying to fit in at her high school. She is an outcast, bullied by the other girls, and then has to go home to a mother who is an overzealous Christian, convinced that her daughter is a demonic spawn because of how she was conceived. Carrie manifests telekinetic power at the late onset of puberty, which her mother interprets as demonic.
Genealogies of various families and blood lines will show that many have had paranormal or occult skeletons in their closets, and children often perceive the condition as normal until they reach an age at which they recognize the unusual nature of this dark enterprise.
I was once made aware that a friend of mine had confessed to his very close friend that he was raised in a family that conducted various rituals that he felt were satanic in nature. He even went as far as to say that he was ordained into a satanic brotherhood and that his mother abused him in front of what he called a small shadowy entity that appeared during one of the rituals. Four of his brothers preceded him in death. Eventually he committed suicide himself.
The parents died of old age, and the only child in the family that remains is a daughter who is now in a mental institution.
This story of course is tragic, and there may be other families out there that have been aware or at least in the middle of some strange family tradition that has made them feel uneasy or even question whether or not it is occult-based.
The roots of generational occult ritualism come from extended practice within many sects of Christianity. True Christianity is not being practiced, but a derivative that uses perversions of secret societal ritualism. The excuse for these practices is to preserve the old bloodlines in pure gothic and medieval forms. They can manifest as forms of witchcraft, Brujeria, Santeria, generational Satanism and coven organization within the family bloodline.
The blood within the family is highly prized and the bloodline is honored and not taken lightly. All things that are practiced are sealed in blood rituals and are secretly done during family gatherings and in the privacy of home.
Even though FBI investigations have not yet found proof of satanic ritualism and interbreeding in families, it is well known that traditional occult rituals are being performed which include sex magic in which intercourse between dark spiritual entities takes place, especially in families whose genealogies can be traced to early colonial America and medieval Europe. This generational witchcraft, which bears little to no resemblance to contemporary Wiccan or pagan traditions, has been treated within family life in such a way that the children see it as normal and do not understand what it can or could lead to.
Families that have been doing this for hundreds of years have produced, in some cases, members who have been behind the scenes of world events and have molded and shaped the destiny of the United States and places in Europe.
Generational occultism, whether you like it or not, has reaches into all levels of society including the law enforcement and justice system. Many of the family practices are carried out in remote rural areas. Every once in a while the mainstream narrative carries stories about young children being kidnapped, only to be found later as victims of some bizarre ritualistic crime.
Is it any coincidence that media now has brought forward a more sensationalized form of spiritualism and has softened the idea of evil, by painting things as vampirism as tragic and misunderstood, or sexy and enticing?
This is not by accident. The families that have been involved with generational occultism have produced a generation of young writers and producers who have found themselves in Hollywood. They have been able to take what they see as normal and make it normal for all of society to be a part of.
The occult revival being experienced throughout the world may be the direct outcome of this generational occultism as encouraged by select groups and families.
Religions is seeing a decline in membership, and now a new spirituality can be found within the environs of many science fiction conventions and Twilight fan websites. Vampires and werewolves are now treasured as icons of humanity and normalcy instead of being revenant enemies of humanity. The impact of generational occultism is having an impact on agnostics and atheists alike.
Atheists are declining in numbers as many who were once atheists are now relying on some form of spirituality that can be seen as either Satanic or occult in nature. A two-year worldwide study done by the Search Institute’s Center for Spiritual Development in Childhood and Adolescence found that only 7% of the adolescents they spoke with were unsure that a spiritual dimension to life exists. There is a spiritual hunger in most people but the influence of the occult is becoming more normal, because it has been a secret friend, or fiend, of the family for so long now.
Perhaps demonic influences have received an open invitation because generational occultism has made it less of a moral offense to accept demonic power as a solution to life’s problems.
This is a chilling thought. This would mean that the sightings of these shadow archetypes and the attacks that have been reported have been always in the cards because of family tradition. Perhaps there is a welcome mat out for any demon now because the idea of intercourse with a demon or entity is far more enticing than kneeling down to pray.
For example, the popular hit singer song writer Ke$ha recently appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show, to talk about her new song ”Supernatural.” She told him that her new album Warrior is about experiences with the supernatural…but in a sexy way. The 25-year-old singer confessed that she had a couple of experiences with the supernatural, including having had sex with a ghost.
She said that all of the occult ritualism was being done to improve the sound of her music.
Was all of this because of generational influences or was it all rebellion? Occult influence can’t be detected by checking for dilated pupils or bloodshot eyes. There is no blood test. People can write it off as a crazy fad because it has no evidence to lend it legitimacy, but left unchecked, it opens the door to possible possession and involuntary entrapment.
This is a serious problem.
In his book Hostage to the Devil, Jesuit Malachi Martin describes an encounter a Catholic priest had with a demon-possessed person. When the priest commanded the demon to stop scaring the person it was influencing, the clergyman was corrected by the demon, who said, “We do not frighten our prospects.”
It seems as if this is truly the case as spiritual warfare and ritualistic murder have become major stories in the news. We see cannibalism and what appears to be possession in headlines across the country.
The old axiom is that the devil can take on a pleasing shape, and will be welcomed with open arms by anyone who can’t see the ugly outcome that results from the abuse of occult practices.
The devil can and always will be that one entity that will persist in all dealings with humankind, a secret fiend of the family.
