Music box dancer was another one that received wide exposure for a time. It really does capture the sound of a music box.

Apparently there was a time long ago when music boxes were prized gifts. When there were no radios or turn tables, music was a much rarer thing to hear, so music box might have been like having chimes only music was prearranged. These are just guesses, by the way.

Oh that brings back memories!

Somewhere around 1960 give or take a couple years, this music was used as part of the opening sequence for a TV show in the DC area called "The Early Show:" or "The Early Early Show."

The view was from inside a car looking out the front windshield with some rain coming down and the windshield wiper clearing off the rain.

That haunting music always mesmerized me. They just played a few bars before introducing some boring movie.

Since I was a child, I've wondered what the name of the music was but didn't know how to go about finding it. From time to time the music would pop into my head, not knowing the name or anything. Finally after 50 years, you've answered the question.

Life is complete. I can die in peace now. hi5.gif

Theres probably a few others above and below that may have the same effect...

The timelessly hypnotizing and mesmerizing Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat...

Was number one in america for five weeks in 1968 and its amazingly uplifting and incredibly moving...

These beautiful and haunting instrumentals (real music) are such musical time machines...

Instantly teleporting us back into another place somewhere in time...

And even though many of them were originally released before I was born...

Amazingly they're somehow still able to make me miss and long for a past I never even lived within...

Unless that happens to be more evidence for reincarnation? and most likely thats for sure!

Quote:Percy Faith recorded the most popular version of (Theme From A Summer Place) in the Columbia 30th Street Studio in New York City, which spent an at-the-time record of nine consecutive weeks at number one on the still-young Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in early 1960. It remains the longest running number one instrumental in the history of the chart.

Yes, "Love Is Blue" was a big hit back in the day. I was a senior in high school when it came out.

Very similar to the past when many people went to go watch people acting live during plays right in front of them upon a stage during a theater presentation was like going to the movies before there were movies and before there were cinemas (*-*)
