The daily Helsingin Sanomat reported Thursday that an air freight consignment destined for Ukraine was discovered to contain numerous parts of a missile guidance system. The find was discovered in June as part of routine customs surveillance at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

Officials discovered however, that the shipment did not have the required clearance for transit through Finland to the far eastern part of Ukraine.

Because of the delicacy of the Ukrainian crisis the case had initially only been reported to very high-ranking members of government.

The article doesn't mention where it came from fatman.gif

I'll see if I can find any info on that.

They speculate the shipment could have been a normal order of parts for Ukraine's scheduled update of their existing, but ailing air defense systems.

Seems they may be getting ready to engage in some offensive tactics before long.... but...
Guidance systems from Vietnam? Really? Vietnam is not exactly known for being on the cutting edge of any technology, let alone weapons.
This is the equivalent of the Ukraine buying a crappy new carburetor for a very old car.

According to the articles Vietnam and Ukraine as well as a few other countries still have those old systems, but I think it's not much of an update if they replace old parts with equally old used ones 13.gif

This may turn out to be a legit shipment, but it's interesting how this was only uncovered during a routine inspection. So I assume these types of shipments can slip through very easily from anywhere in the world.

Why the hell they need air delivery for that components when russian border is just miles away? It is propaganda deception imo.
