I did a java update on linux, through the update manager, and now my computer is very sluggish. Especially firefox, bringing up websites. (It took two years of waiting to load this site.)

Anybody else having problems with Firefox?

We uninstalled Java altogether, too big of a security risk. It will take years to close all the known and potential exploits. My advice is get rid of it, you won't miss it. I seriously doubt it's a FF issue.

Yes. And I also uninstalled FF altogether, it got a bit bloated I thought. Running Pale Moon now, which is basically FF Lite.

The Finnish national computer security incident response team CERT-FI is advising the public to uninstall Oracle's Java programme from web browsers unless it is needed.

Yet another vulnerability has been found in the Java browser extension that can be exploited to infect computers with malware.

According to CERT-FI, this latest vulnerability affects Java 6 update 41 and Java 7 update 15. The distributor, Oracle, has issued fixes for earlier versions, but not yet for these two.

I used to be very defensive of FF. I used to love it, but lately, it has become pretty large. Octo, I'm looking over Pale Moon. Have you had any problems? I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. Going to try and find the install for PM...

No, can't say I have had any problems with it. And it's pretty much like FF so it's not a big switch.

I do a little Chromium on my workstation at work (also Ubuntu 12.04). Its fast but different. I have a good friend that admins the bizness network at Mozilla, so am kind of prejudiced for FF. Now I'm IN THE MOOD!!! I'm going to install every browser I can get my hands on an play with them.
