If they didn't feed the 47 million plus American's Food Stamps, to survive. That's 47 million reasons not stand for the current shït state the economy is in.

I wonder if the Fema camps even had that kind of capacity? I doubt it.

Think Tahrir square comes to Washington, at bare minimum.

coffeetime.gif Well, they certainly do eat fancy eh? gaah.gif
On a side note, IF we COULD score a porterhouse steak here, and AT THAT PRICE! OMG! shocked.gif We'd be in Nirvana.

Fresh cold water Lobster? Maybe in Helsinki at € 50 a kilo, sorry that shits too pricey for those that actually do something for a living, let alone to be on FS.

Seriously, lobster & Diet Mountain Dew should not be eligible on the FS program. 13.gif

I know it's isolated (well, I'd hope isolated) incidents like this that get attention and not the 46 million on food stamps that truly need it. And the 3 Trillion spent attacking Afghanistan and Iraq could have been far better spent at home.

But JR you make a damn good point. People who pay the taxes that allow these benefits sure as hell can't afford lobster and porterhouse. Lobster is ~ $20/lb here so roughly the same and porterhouse, don't know as I've seen it on the shelf. Two decent T-bones will run about $25 though.

Lord, you can't even get those cuts of meat here. They mostly have fillet mignon the size of a newborns fist for €20.
If it were not for hamburger and roast beef we couldn't do beef at all unless we had a pickup and a chainsaw. rofl.gif

There's ranchers around here that will sell you grain fed beef by the side, is usually about $3/lb cut and wrapped. That's everything, from roast to porterhouse to ground beef. Is a good deal but if you go to the grocery store it's all from Brazil and $10/lb. And of course game meat, you want a moose or a deer just take a bottle of whiskey to your local reserve and don't let the game warden catch you with it rofl.gif

Congress Mulls Cuts to Food Stamps Program Amid Record Number of Recipients

Quote:ABC News' Huma Khan reports: Congress is under pressure to cut the rapidly rising costs of the federal government’s food stamps program at a time when a record number of Americans are relying on it.

The House Appropriations Committee today will review the fiscal year 2012 appropriations bill for the Department of Agriculture that includes $71 billion for the agency’s “Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.” That’s $2 billion less than what President Obama requested but a 9 percent increase from 2011, which, critics say, is too large given the sizeable budget deficit.

As irritating as food stamp abuse is, it may be better by far to make corporations actually pay taxes, rollback this war on terrorism, cut this needless exorbitant surveillance state which provides mega information that nobody in the intelligence community knows what the hell to do with or how to share all the disorder in a meaningful fashion, and then we may have a start.

-The whole objective of the program is so people below the poverty line can afford required nutrition.
-A vast majority of those who pay for the program cannot afford lobster and porterhouse steak.
-Abuse like this ruins it for those that truly need the program.

Sure people on foodstamps should have something nice once in a while. Go earn it.

Wait... PorTERhouse steaks? Wassat?

I have a very sore spot for the food stamp/welfare programs.

.

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to poor
