Im upgrading from a 2004 Dell OptiPlex dual core. Anything will be an improvement. The Render program I use doesn't depend on RAM it uses cores to render.

Im not looking for speed in render time increase, because this was rendered in 27 minutes with Im working with now.

İmage

What my problem has been was RAM dedication to the program I use to model. Im currently only able to dedicate 1GB of Ram to it. This means when my Model approachs around the 500 - 600 object mark the program becomes real sluggish and I have to limit myself to what 'More' I can do.

Being able to dedicate lots more RAM will give the opportunity to build more complicated things.

I'm not a gamer at all, and I actually spend much more time on my desktop now a days then I do online.

I had a limited budget when putting this together, but I did make sure I have plenty of slots open for upgrades later. And its a Major improvement over what Im working with now.

Good morning Not Gumby, did you know Windows 10 will be a free upgrade?

That black bike is gorgeous, I would name her 'Black Beauty". I was going to do the spiel about black on black without adding a lighter colour to make the tires pop, but I think what you did there works very well. thumbsup.gif

So what complex effects are you thinking of doing?

Thank you ! Im just at that age "59", where I don't want to learn a new OS, just comfortable where Im at because I know where everything is lol

Just larger and more complicated machines mostly And some better Reflections in the renders is what Im after

Ive also been dabbling with some Fractal programs that my current machine is struggling with. Programs like JWildfire and Mandelbulb 3D are heavy on the Resources

Huh, we are the same age and I get it...keep it uncomplicated. But, I just wanted to mention the importance of light, shadow and form rendering, which can make everything 'pop' in 3D.

What I do is a bit different than digital drawing, Im creating actual 3 dimensional models. A little over 600 objects in this one.
The light sources are very limited, Heres the work area prior to a render.
