What politics from both sides wants to teach us is that things are never complex. If you have your little package and something doesn't fit into that package, You don't know what to make of it so you want to dismiss it or then you will have to do the work of reconsidering your assumptions. - Michael Malice

This is terrifying! It's criminal not to measure radioactivity in produce, wild fish, mushrooms and berries, not sure what the limit is over there, but here in Europe after Chernobyl the limits were set very high. You should have the right to know what you eat

Quote:As a consequence of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the European Union set maximum limits on the level of radioactive contamination permitted in foodstuff imports from countries outside the EU; regarding total cesium radionuclides, these limits stand at 370 becquerels/kilogram for baby food and milk products and at 600 becquerels/kilogram for other foodstuffs. These limits also apply to food traded within the EU. In response to the Fukushima disaster, the EU provisionally set stricter permissible limits at 200 and 500 becquerels respectively for imports from Japan.

We haven't bought any fish from the Pacific since the Fukushima catastrophe.

They mentioned the levels. They were set so high that you now have a 1 in 25 chance of getting cancer from your food.

When it comes to fish you have to choose your toxins, there aren't too many clean waters anymore

And the Gulf Coast is out unless you like Core Exit flavored seafood.

Unless you raise it yourself, it's a crap shoot.

True. Right now your best bet is quick growing, short lived fish on the Atlantic coast. Some others are ok in moderation, but if you can only eat it in moderation then why would you eat it at all?

Aquaponics can be small or large scale.

But yeah, for wild-caught ~ North Atlantic is prolly the safest bet, atm.

Agreed. I just quit eating it all together. It's just not worth the risk.

Chill man and look at the radiation numbers and dilution numbers, then chill again.
