We need the rain, and everything in the garden is thriving.
I harvested the potatoes last weekend, the two pickle bushes are producing about four dukes a day, (eating and facials), eggplants are almost ready, squash need another week, Swiss Chard has been supplying greens for a month, Red onions are almost ready, Garlic came a little puny, (I'll replant half of them in late Sept), strawberries are sweet but few, tomatoes need another week at least,
I planted beets where I had the potatoes, along with parsley and parsnips. Carrot seeds went in yesterday, and I put about ten more potatoe eyes into a bed that had peas, which are done till I replant in late August.
I'm happy with the results, and I've used no chemicals or pesticides other than Diamatecous Earth for the exoskeleton pests and BT for the wormy ones.
The compost piles are going strong, on two out of three of them I covered with black plastic which really speeds things up.
I just thought I'd share some good news for a change.
There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes!
